Car won't start, no clicking when turning key.

I have a 2006 TL and when going to start it nothing happens. The radio comes on and all the electronics are working fine, but engine won't turn over. No clicking sound so it isn't a dead battery.
I had it towed to a local garage and they replaced the starter. This was on Monday. Car was fine on Tuesday but Wednesday the same thing happened. Turn the key and the radio comes on, but engine won't turn over. So I stepped on the gas a few times, tried again and it starts. Turn it off and try again and no start.
Had it towed back to garage and they are able to start it about 20 times no problem. They replaced the starter again. I am now very nervous that my car will not start again and will have to have it towed a third time.
Has anybody else heard of an issue like this, and is there anything else to check?

ive heard of stories like this.
it all circles back to getting a shitty starter from autozone etc.

Bet you the starter they used was a p.o.s

The garage said that the new starter could have been bad, but it also might be something else causing the starter to go bad. Fingers crossed it was just a bad starter they put in the first time.
This is my wife's car and I don't want her getting stranded someplace because of this.

Before you rule out a battery, when did you last replace it?

I'm betting it's the battery right now.

Battery was replaced less than a year ago. I don't think it is the battery because it isn't clicking like when a battery is dead. I have had a few dead batteries with this too.

I've had a similar situation with my 06' TL. Root cause (multiple times over) was that one of my battery terminals was loose. You should be able to notice the sound of a spark if this is the case for you too. It apparently had a good enough connection to run the lights and stereo but not enough to kick over the starter.

When this first happened on Monday, the first thing I tried to do was jump start it with jumper cables, and nothing happened. No sound, no clicking or anything. If the battery terminal was loose, would that explain why the jumper cables wouldn't start the car?

Yes.
Try to rotate both clamps-- if they move, clean the posts tighten the clamps.
Also look for corrosion on the clamps, and feel for corrosion under the rubber sheathing on the positive cable for a foot behind the clamp.

Finally, check the negative cable on the ground side-- a couple of members found it loose.

All of ^^ is cheaper than buying an unnecessary starter.

Welcome to AZ.

Sadly the starter has been installed and paid for. Hopefully the second one they installed will not crap out. But if it doesn't start again, at least you gave me some things to check.
Thanks

Hey all I have a 05 acura tl with 144k regular maintenance timing belt water pump suspension air and cabin filters changed. Today I drove the car about 8 miles then drove it back never had a problem before. 2 hours later I go out to start the car and nothing only a click from the starter but my lights radio everything works. It's not the immobilizer because it's not showing the key symbol my keyless entry works. I cleaned the battery terminals tightened them up. It has the factory starter on it. Also I hit a mud puddle I suppose because there's a lot of dried brown stuff on the top of my engine. What are the chances it's the pcm vs the starter also the battery is showing 12.8 amps please help I'm dead in the water right now.

Have you had anymore issues? I've replaced my battery, starter and battery cables (both negative and positive) and i'm still having the same issue. I had battery and starter tested, both test good. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, I get a click like its a dead battery, but everything on the inside turns on. I beat on the starter and the car starts

I had the same problem.I moved mine from park to neutral and it started. Then put it back in park. I think it just wasnt recognizing that the gear shift was in park.

That's the classic symptom of failing transmission position sensor.

I had the exact same symptoms 2 years ago. Have you checked the + battery cable? At this age, it could be corroded internally where you can't see and unable to carry enough starting juice. Replacing mine fixed the problem.
