Car threw a CEL ..
Ever since I made a trip to Pomona, my car has occasionally been giving me a CEL (only when I punch it) Today, I was trying to merge onto the 15 freeway .. a semi truck was right next to me and when I floored it in SS (2nd gear) to get by him, my car threw a CEL and it started blinking. After passing the truck I let off the gas and the CEL eventually went away after a few minutes.
Later that day, I disconnected my negative, checked all the hoses (intake in particular) .. everything seems in order.
The transmission doesn't show signs of giving out ... so I'm a little lost for words lol.
Suggestions?

blinking CEL means misfire. Most likely you have gotten bad gas from one of the stations there and there is some bad stuff in the gas tank. Add some seafoam to the gas and get some gas from a known, trusted gas station.

I hate to be Captain Obvious but
A semi weighs 40,000 lbs +
you weigh 3450 car + you at whatever
Tap the brakes, slide in behind him, pull around when safe. The truck driver will appreciate it
and you earn road karma points. If you have ever pulled a trailer you know how hard it is when you get stuck and cant merge over to give room, then someone forces the issue, here comes a guardrail on the right and its moving in closer quickly
The other day a semi made a quick left to dodge a 4 foot boulder on the freeway...
Neatly pulled OVER the top of an RX8, trapping it under the trailer!!!,
driver shaken but not broken
I have towed the race car and the camper many many miles- its not fun
Imagine if the D5 light started flashing and trans slips or the rev limiter decides to go into limp mode and 2500 is max you get

Thanks for the advice csmeance / 01tl4tl. I will get run some seafoam through the vac line with some 91 gas from Chevron or something
.
01tl4tl: The semi was going unusually slow and I was already doing like 45mph in 2nd ... it wouldn't have been a tap on the brakes to slip behind him ..
I understand what you're saying, thanks for the advice though.

This is a time for Seafoam in the GAS tank- not the intake manifold
It will fix you right up
Seafoam Seafoam Seafoam (chanting continues in background)
