Car shakes

I have a 2004 tl with 50,000 miles , when i start my car in the mornings to warm it up , it shakes for the first 5 minutes .I took it to the dealer and they said it has sumthin to do with catalast converter and not to worry about it because alot of 2004 tls share that problem. I was wondering does anyone else experience that problem?

Hmm... I can't think of why the cat would cause the car to shake; the fact that the engine is cold and not running smoothly until it warms up seems more likely..

It's your power steering pump!.......I had the same problem. If ur still under warranty then just take it to the dealer,@ 22,000 you shouldn't even have this problem but it's becoming common on our TL's.......

That might not be the issue you have but their statement is basically true. The engine will run poorly when cold and then run fine once it is warm. It's all part of keeping the emissions within spec. The TL is a ULEV car and it's not going to spew hydrocarbons when cold just so it can run "smooth" for the first few minutes. I think it's even in the owners manual somewhere as well.
