07 TL windshield scratches

Hi ,

Here in Montreal we have a pretty nasty winter. It happens that in the mornings when the windshield is frozen to spray it with windshield fluid and start the wipers. I start to see tiny scratches on the windshield.
They are visible in the sun and they’re very annoying

I did same thing with my previous cars, including my 2004 Accord that I change it for TL and I didn’t have this problem.

It looks that my TL windshield is not so resistant to scratches.

Anybody else had/have this problem?

Can I ask for a windshield replacement?

My car is only 5 months old.

Thanks,

yeah mine is the same way...you can see small scratches as well as small little "chips" from rocks. Mine is an 05 so it is a little older, but same idea applies...it doesnt seem very resistant to scratches

Hey! Where in Montreal exactly are you?
I havn't noticed a problem with the window scratching... but it leaves streaks sometimes across the window due to dirty water [which I can't wash off or it'll just freeze over my window].
Out of curiosity, do your windows frost up from the INSIDE on cold mornings/overnight? For some reason it's happening to me... I have yet to see if that happens when I park inside the Tempo.

Hi ,

Actually, I'm leaving in St-Rose , Laval.
I got some scratches after the first freezing night , back in November.
Yesterday, I washed my car and in the sunny day I saw bunch of tiny scratches and some they are exactly on visual line and it was annoying. Today on clouded day, they are not so bothering.
No , I haven't get inside freezing windows. It looks that you got inside humidity.
Are you using the A/C defrost? It should help.
Also, I noticed when I'm using the car for short distances , I'm getting a little bit of inside frozen windows up to the cabin is heat up.

Laval? Ah I see. That's not too far.
Hmn, it has been getting warmer in Montreal lately.. but still below zero.
Yeah I get that too, sometimes the windows fog up[side windows, rear windows.. sometimes the front]. Goes away after a bit when the heater and rear defrost is on. Sometimes I only get fogging/frosting on the left side where the right side is normal.

Like I said earlier, I havn't noticed any scratches yet.. or maybe I just have to look harder. Did you check your windshield whipers? My old car once, for some reason, had a rock stuck to the whiper-blade....

Thanks jguerra23 ,

First , I have to find that here in Canada.
I'll wait the summer anyway to try that.
I'll ask also to a windshield shop if they can do something like that.

Several years ago I had a rock get stuck in my windshield wiper of my TL during a winter storm. The resulting scratch was particularly irritating when driving into the sun. Thinking I might avoid an expensive windshield replacement, I purchased a windshield polishing product from Janvil, similar to the Vavoline system referenced in another post. The results looked fine until driving at night; when on coming headlines looked like starbursts. Long and short - if you want a clear windshield - replace the one you have. Don't waste your money on polishing kits. My brother is an optometrist - states glass polishing requires incredibly precise equipment and windshields are not designed to be polished. Just my experience.

Thanks Financeman.
I was wondering myself if the polish thing is good or not.
I may choose to live with it . The disappointment is why the TL windshield is so easy to be scratched. I had an Accord before (I believe it's same supplier for windshields) and after 3 winters I didn't have so visible scratches. I may ask the dealer if they can do something under warranty ( not to big hope anyway)
