Question Car is not starting + remote is not responding anymore!!!!

Hello, i have a problem with my 04 TL.. Went 2 my car dis morning, unlock doors, put key in ignition and the car wouldn't start. The dom lights were on but I believe they weren't as strong as they normally are. The speedometer lights had the blue stuff but nothing else was on. When I turn the key I saw the couple lights on bottom part of the speedometer flicking so I stoppe trying.
So i stepped out of the car and tried to lock the car it won't lock the car anymore either. The trunk release doesnt work either.

I tried giving it a boost but I didn't really thing that, that was the cause since the car wasn't even cranking.

Any ideas on what happened?

Sounds like a dead battery, get a jump, but look in the users manual to make sure you do it correctly.

These cars go through batteries fast. Especially the Acura branded ones.

I am worried about my original one from 07. But it's still going.

Even though its the battery, why isn't my remote locking the car?

Because it takes power to lock the car which the car doesn't have enough of.

If in doubt, pull the battery, have it charged, then load tested.

+1

It's also free to get your battery tested also.

Car not even cranking?
Not enough juice in the battery for the starter.

You could have corrosion on the cables that go to the battery, make sure they are clean. Happend to me on my other car.

Disconnect the battery terminals and clean them, removing any corrosion. Also, how old is your battery?

I didn't get a chance to get the battery tested today, however I gave it a boost and the car started. I let it idle for about 10min or so and took it for a 5min spin around and everything worked just fine. The second I turn the ignition off the try to start it again it's fully dead again :S

I even cleaned the terminals and took off the corrosion. This is my second battery actually..this one I had for about 2.5 yrs. Drove only about 40km on it.

Start the car again and while it is idling, disconnect the battery. If the car dies when you disconnect the battery, or shortly after, then your alternator is bad.

^^ that doesn't work all the time as the car still needs the battery to provide some power.

Chances are no? Call them up and ask, 9 out of 10 says you need a new battery. I've never heard of an alternator going bad on our cars but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

Damn man.... All these people with TL's and their batteries. Same thing happened to me like 2 weeks ago. I was scared as hell. My dad hoped on it quick and removed the old battery while I went to autozone and bought a Duralast Gold battery. I couldn't be happier with the battery. Now, all I have to do is clean off the positive terminal. Thing keeps oxidizing on me. smh....

Glad to hear everything worked out. Only 1 question. How are you gonna get your car to the dealer?

Once I give the car a boost it just keeps driving till I turn the ignition off again.

Battery is dead. Yep, if you still have warranty, go ahead take the battery to Acura to change with new one. Your 60 month warranty is not full warranty for 60 months. I don't remember exactly 24 months or 36 months for battery bought from Acura. It means 24 or 36 months free replacement if your battery is dead with that time frame. Beyond that, the cost is prorated.

Thats exactly what happened, however in my case the service adviser messed up and gave the entire battery for free because he told me over the phone that it was free. I had argue a little and everything and they decided to give it to me, but I had to do the labour myself which i didn't mind doing. It would have cost me $50bucks after taxes if they followed the prorated cost.

uhh..wow..DO NOT EVER DO THIS electric:

The voltage from the alternator can spike up towards for a split second. Not good for modern vehicles.

The battery provides voltage regulation. Without it, the voltage in your vehicle may exceed the working voltage of many electronics in your vehicle. Cars today have many digital electronics that are susceptible to voltage spikes and are often not well equipped to handle them. You could EASILY destroy the ECM or other electronics.

It may have worked on ur fathers carburated truck, but do yourself a favor and dont EVER do this.

Damnit man I've been giving out BAD information lately This is my first modern vehicle with all of the bells and whistles, if you will. My apologies on the wrong information OP.

DO NOT DISCONNECT THE BATTERY WITH THE CAR RUNNING

no worries guy, i didn't try disconnecting the battery while it was running.
I got the new replacement battery and everything seems fine for now. Now im just wodering why the freggin battery died. The service rep said there is a high chance that its because of my aftermarket amp+sub. But thats hard to believe for me.

good to hear that the battery is under warranty. it possibly could be the amp and sub drawing too much power from it? how many watts is the amp and what gage wiring you using?

disconnecting your battery with the car running can cook your ELD. best bet is to remove and test battery.

the battery in my 2002 CL type S lasted 8 years before it croaked (it still had the Marysville Ohio delivery address on it) replaced it with a 980CCA battery last year. Original battery lasted from November 2001 (when the car was built) to November 2009 when it was replaced.
