Car Make Noise when Steering Wheel is turned
I been noticing that at random time when i turn my steering wheel i hear this whinning noise coming from the car. Its been happen atleast 4 times already and goes away.
Like today almost home from work at a stop light. I turn my steering wheel and i near this whinning noise. I keep hearing it when i turn my steering wheel. Got home park in garage but left the car on and a few min later it goes away.
First time i happen my battery went dead the next day. I just got a replacement battery a few days ago. I dont think they are related thou.
I tried to make a video but i dont think u can hear the noise due to the engine noise. i will upload it when i get a chance, but i will make a ppointment with my dealership tomorrow to have it look at.
Anyone else have any idea what i can be?
I already got the steering hose recall done a few months ago.

Does this noise happen only during cold weather? My 04 TL made this noise before due to a bad power steering pump & timing belt, all of which were replaced by the dealer free of charge under my warranty.
I would say it is your power steering pump. It is -3 degrees here right now and my TL is in the shop for that exact same noise. They replaced an O ring on the pump, I went to pick it up today and it still whined. I expect by the end of the day they may end up replacing the pump.
I win. Dealer just called. I am keeping the loaner car until tomorrow sometime as they are just going to put in a whole new power steering pump which is fine by me, its all under warranty and I will take an 08 TL while my 05 is being fixed, sure!
Great it not just me then. That is why i love this forum.
Well it only seem to happen this winter, i never notice it before. I would think it would make the noise when the car is still cold, but not when it been driven for atleast 35 min.
I made an appointment with them for the 29th. Should i expect them to have it for a few days?

tell the dealer to inspect the steering rack as well. Since you dont know how long this problem has been going on, its quite possible that the steering rack could be damaged. Also, once the pump is replaced, let them keep the car overnight to see if the noise is gone. I suggest that they inspect the timing belt as well as mentioned in my previous post.

Mine has started to wine but only when its cold outside and after 15 minutes of driving it goes away......
I would not be covered under warranty so Im hoping that I dont have to replace anything...Any suggestions or is this normal in cold weather?

Everyone needs to check their PS fluid levels (when cold) as well as the PS pump. I just had an issue with whining in the morning when first driving, and the sound would go away. However, it would come back the next morning (every day in fact). At first they thought it might be a bad belt tensioner, but then they found that it was due to a failing PS pump. I got it replaced under warranty.
You guys should have the dealer check what the problem is. If it's the power steering pump & you've been driving for a long time under these conditions, you can possibly damage your steering rack, thus adding an additional cost to fix if your vehicle isnt cover via warranty.
Also, this usually happen during cold weather.

If you are turning the wheel, and you are hearing bubbling up sound or wooshing sound, you have air in the line...
You just need it flushed, add new fluid, and turn the wheel to the left fully, hold for 1 sec, and now turn it to the right for 1 sec, repeat, this expels the air from the line.

Same thing started happening to me yesterday. It was relatively mild down in Charleston, SC and I always keep my car garaged. I came up to Atlanta a few days ago and the last two mornings I get the whirring noise when I start the car and then turn the steering wheel left and right. The noise seems to go away as the day goes on, but I've noticed that I'm leaking power steering fluid out of the reservoir. Not good. Plus I broke the stupid cover trying to get it off
Bad power steering pump? What's the verdict?

Disregard. Should have done a little more research on the forums. I'm such and idiot! Anyways try this:

Acura TSB: Air bubbles due to a leaky inlet O Ring Gasket
There is a recent Acura TSB, that describes the cause and repair for loud noises arising from the power steering pump.
It appears that bubbles form in the power steering fluid reservoir during cold mornings because of a leaking inlet housing O Ring. This can be changed (and you do not have to shell out $360 for a new pump) with the pump in the car.
The .pdf file for the TSB (including the steps to replace the O Ring) is:
