car is idling weird

Hey guys, like the title says, my car is idling really weird. When I come to a complete stop at a light or the car is in Park, the RPMs still rise a bit past 1000 rpm. Normal cars idle around 900 rpm, but my car idles roughly around 1200 rpm. it goes up and down up and down, but it only happens at random times. Anyone know wats wrong?

i would check for a vacuum leak. it may also be your idle air control valve.

Also when the car is fully warmed up, it should idle at around 700-800 RPM's, when cold around 1100 RPM's.

Was the car's battery disconnected for some reason, such as having your battery replaced ? If so, your car will idle weird for about two hours (of driving time) while the ECU relearns how to properly idle the engine.

that's the idle re-learn, the proper procedure to do this is to let the car idle for 15 min. with any and all accessories such as radio and A/c turned off.
