Question Brake Lights

Hey guys im new to this forum. Just a concren i had regarding my brake lights. At times when i press it the brake lights are not bright at all. They all work but they are really dim. And at other times it works fine. Any ideas on what the problem could be? Thanks

Brake light switch. I see it about once or twice a month in 3G TLs. In fact we just had one in today with that problem.

We stock the switch now too because of this. I don't remember how much they cost, assuming you are out of warranty, but it's not too much, and you could do it yourself if you wanted to!

thanks alot. I thought it had to do with the grounding in my car. Roughly how much do they cost? and how hard is it to install?

I forgot to check today at work about the cost of the switch. Install really isn't that hard. Basically unplug the old one, twist and remove from holder. Remove the holder and install the new one (if you want to, you actually don't "have" to). Then install new one, and make sure your brake lights work now.

If you do it yourself, go check your cruise control when you're done. We've seen a few people attempt the repair themselves, but don't adjust the switch properly, and then their cruise control doesn't work.

Not sure what year your TL is, but I found this on Google search:

http://www.google.com/products?hl=en...num=1&ct=title

So looks like a cheap fix. Good luck..........

Customer cost for a brake light switch for an 04 TL is about $18 + tax. Even at my cost, it comes out to about $7.50. That link sells that one for $6.95 + $6.50 shipping so (assuming there's no tax) that means that one is cheaper.

Though for a few bucks more you can get one that is OEM. But that call is up to you, I personally don't care if you go OEM or aftermarket, as I am assuming that other one is aftermarket.

So those are your choices. Thanks to LoveMyTL-S for posting that link to the switch to give you some options. Hope you get it fixed soon! Let me know how it turns out.
