Battery problems?

Hey guys, I've been having problems with dead batteries for the last year or so.

Its weird...about a year ago, I got my oil changed at the dealer, they said I needed a new battery, but I ignored them

A few months later, I go out to my car, battery is dead. So assuming the dealer was right, I went and bought a new battery, got the old one charged since AutoZone said it was fine.

Fast forward 5 months later, new battery is dead, i put the old in, and got the new one recharged. Fast forward another 4 months, another dead battery...I did the same, swapped and charged...

A few months later, which is about 2 weeks ago, my battery is dead again....i swap it...and within 2 weeks the battery is dead....

What could be causing this? Slow battery drain?

My aftermarket stuff is a remote start (Compustar Drone Mobile), audio/video units in the trunk and under dash, illuminated door sills....

The only thing from that list that pops out to me is the remote start...but I've never heard of a remote start causing battery drain...or could it be the alternator? I'm lost haha

please help....thanks in advance

oh yeah, forgot to mention, its an 05 automatic

Do you have a voltmeter? Probe the battery with the car running at temperature, be sure to have full load on the electrical system. Meaning, headlights on, CC blasting....I like performing this test with the rear defroster on as well. Post your findings.

If you want to eliminate the possibility of + cables with high resistance probe the alternator output post directly and subtract the voltage you read at the battery. If a cable is that bad though it will almost def. feel extremely hot when you touch it.

I just thought I'd throw that out there, I came from the Volvo world where the alternators would out live the cars and + cables would almost always be at fault for below average charging. I learned the hardway, $330 for a new Genuine alternator and $120 for a new Genuine battery......had I have done a voltage drop test I would've found that I needed only cables and probably a battery because lack of charge had killed the old one.

I had a bad HFL that was draining my battery after only two days of sitting in my driveway.

There was a service bulletin out there somewhere. I remember that my vehicle fell outside of the dates affected according to the bulletin so don't let the dealer BS you. BTW i have a 2006. Tustin Acura changed my HFL and gave me a new battery.

Heh. You don't have a silver TL do you? I might've done that car today.

I'd even check/clean the battery terminals & cable ends. Just slight corrosion will limit recharging especially if the draining is high ..
