Automatic transmission issues-'06

so i have an 06 base TL auto tranny and i noticed the following :

the past week abouts every morning as i start my car i put it in reverse to pull out of my spot as i put it back into drive it takes about 5 seconds or so to catch ( i expected this was just normal as it hasent heated up )

but this morning i get onto the freeway and floor it as i do my rpm hits in the red and wont switch gear until i lift off the gas a bit ... so i tested it out a bit today it seems if i floor it ( pedal to the floor) it will happen otherwise even accelerating fast it wont happen ...

im not experianced in any mechanical way so my only guess is 1. transmission fluid needs to be changed, or 2. my tranny is dead and i need a new 1 ... please help

( a little background is i bought the car in aug 11 and got a normal tune up about december time and the car currently has about 85,000 miles on it )

Have you ever had the "D" light for the gear selector flashing on the dashboard? This is like the check engine light for the transmission. If you ever saw that, it will have stored a code inside the computer that you can retrieve.

Well, without having that light on, there really isn't much they can check for. They will look at the trans fluid leven (check & make sure it's good) and they will check to see if the fluid is really dirty.

Really the most you can do is replace your 3rd & 4th gear pressure switches and change the fluid.

I am having the same issue with my 06. Started about 2 months ago and it only does it in the morning.

wow, the 06's are starting to go out, aren't they? I was planning on doing the 3x3 already, but I'll have to look into changing the pressure switches also.

Of course the 06's are starting to go. Another year, another batch of troubles. These cars all have the same transmission, so don't expect too much.

They are $35 each if you order online (#12 & 13 at bottom center). You'll also need the new 10mm crush-washers (#17 = $2/ea) and maybe some fender clips cause they break easily when removing them. Changing the switches is pretty easy if you like working on cars. An adjustable wrench should do it.
