Another Car Can't Start

I've been reading all morning on this issue and can't figure out what's going on. Might be my starter or my alternator. A few weeks back I was driving and the lights on the dash and radio would flicker on and off. I pulled off to the side of the road, restarted the car and no problems.
Fast forward to yesterday and as I was driving the car suddenly dies and I couldn't move the steering wheel. I try restarting, but it does what it did in the video. I was next to an Autozone and went in got my battery tested (bad) and replaced. Car fired up and I was on my way.
This morning as I was heading for class, I couldn't start the car, show in the video. I have no idea what is wrong, I am going to remove the HFL unit and see what happens. Anyone have any pointers?

We'll I would defiantly get your alternator tested because your car won't cut off if your starter goes bad...sounds like your alternator isn't charging and your running off of straight battery power

I will check the alternator, but I think I've narrowed it down to it. I had it jump started today and drove around for about 30 minutes. My lights started flickering, nav was going in and out. I got a little scared when it shut off on me again, but the engine kept running. A friend of mine thinks it's also my alternator, going to swap it tomorrow. Hopefully this will solve my problem.

Just wondering would you get a new or used alternator?

new oem is super expensive, luckily acura sells remanufactured oem units for much cheaper(but still like 280). or get aftermarket new ones, they should work just fine and be a fraction of the cost of oem

Reman alternators can be found around $200-$210. I'd definitely stay with oem if possible. Changing it once and having it last is worth more than saving a few $$ initially but then having to change it a 2nd time IMO.

I've had it happen to me on a couple previous cars...really sucked having to change it the 2nd time

It is your alternator for sure. Just go to any auto parts store and get a re manufactured one. Acura charges a ton!

Just out of curiosity, what brand of alternator did you get?

So you're aware, the steering and brakes still work when the engine stalls. They are just no longer power assisted. The brakes should give you a pump or two of assist, past that you're going to need to press quite hard to stop. The steering is a bit difficult, but does work.

This is just stuff anyone who drives a car should know. People can panic in situations where the car stalls and think the brakes and steering don't work. They do. Press the brake a few times with the car off. Turn the wheel with the ignition on, but the car not running. It's not a bad thing to be familiar with how they would work if the engine suddenly stalls while driving.

Agreed. I'm surprised every day at how many adults do not know this or even how to change their own oil.

To add to what you said, if you lose the engine and you have vacuum assist like the TL does, it's best when you hit the brakes to hold the pedal down while stopping. Each time you pump the pedal you lose vacuum.

As soon as it happened, I turned on my emergency lights and checked my side mirror and pulled to the side. The steering was hard but i just pulled. I was a little freaked out, but I had to pull to the side. Calm and think.

The other good thing is I did hold down the pedal for the brakes. Learned a lot from this experience.

I got an alternator from a totaled 07 TL I think. A friend of mine knew a friend who still had that part from his TL.
