2008 TL Type S
2008 TL Type S
Hello Guys, I have done some research on this problem i'm having and cant find a solution, When i come to a complete stop and i try and punch it all i get is a slow crawl until i hit vtec then she takes off. I have no Warning lights tried to reset computer which seems to help a little bit but goes right back into this slump, I have read about the APP sensor but wasn't sure if this could be my issue since i have No Warning lights or anything. Please Help!!
you havent had it long enough, summer months are brutal to the TL! when the ECU detects temps above a certain level, the ecu will scale back timing. imparative to use the highest octane available!
I mean, I cant find a flaw in your post, none of the things you mentioned would make the car slow, except the heat soak.

if the computer IS PULLING timing, it would mean you really dont have power!
this car pulls timing on every thing! because of the engines high compression ratio...it is pretty high at 11:1:1
Too hot? pulls timing. not enough octane? pulls timing. Detects slippage in wheel on take off? pulls timing
you can do things to trick the computer or add vents to aleviate said temps....but more for the extreme modder.

Welcome to AZ.
do some research on the IAT sensor. When I swapped my 3.2 manifold and throttle body for the 3.7 parts I had to relocate the IAT sensor as usually it sits near the throttle body and intake , but your AEM intake doesn't have the bung in which the IAT should be relocated to. I had to dangle mine near the bottom of the front bumper and ziptie it
^thats why I couldnt see the sensor on the aftermarket intake....^cuz the bung isnt there.
Thanks bro!!
as mentioned, its probably hanging some where. it needs to be somewhere recieving cool air!

correct! His intake is not the V2 AEM so it doesn't have the bung. Justn is right, whoever installed the intake probably just left it dangling. Youll need to locate the sensor and extend it by soldering in an extension and locate it somewhere near the bumper mesh near your foglights and you should be good to go
heat soak are normal for our TL, I live here in TX where for the past month temp hovering around 100 degree and my TL barely beat a 2012 TSX 4 banger in a race lol. I know I can smoke the TSX with no problem if the car wasn't get heat soaked.
