2008 TL Autostick in 2nd gear for prolong time

I just got the TL and I have one question. My girl drove the car in Manual mode for about 15min and did not get out of 2nd gear and hit like 35mph. I did loose lots of gas. The question I have is: Did she damage the engine or transmission? The car has only 400 miles on it.

Thank you,

Tas

2nd gear should be good until about 55MPH. That means that you were reving at maybe 3.5K RPM which shouldn't harm the motor too much. During break in, you are supposed to drive the car nicely, meaning keep revs under 4K, vary the speed and not use cruise control. I would tell your GF how to drive the TL properly next time and anyone else driving it.

TO sum it up, no damage should have occured.

It would have hit the rev limiter and gone bababababababababa until she noticed something was wrong.

Great thing about the automatics- even in SS mode- it watches over you~

^ Some people wouldn't consider that great, especially at the track where you're banging the redline limiter like there's no tomorrow.

Anyone who has studied the torque and HP curve of a TL will not bother taking it to redline.
So if you would rather bend the valves and destroy a zero clearance engine by not having a rev limiter- go disconnect yours~

The TL, while a great track day car- is not a race car!
Buy a track day only toy car if you want to redline the motor

Haha...sorry, this just made me bust out laughing. I have done this before on my RSX and the babababababababababa just brought back those memories. I'll be sure NOT to do this on my 08 TL.
