Angry 2004 TL water leak under back seat

I've seen numerous posts for leaks in the earlier models but none for 2004. Well, let me tell you. We've had a lot of rain recently and my car sits out in a parking lot all day. Needless to say, I can push on the right, passenger back seat and water bubbles up. The seat is ruined with staining and mold. The seat belts are ruined with water stains such as dirt, salt, calcium, rust, etc. The trunk, however, is dry. Anyone else with this problem???

it sounds like the drain tube for your sunroof may be clogged

there was a TSB out for this, underneath the area, there is a grommet that is supposed to be there, it can fall out and cause water leaks. I believe it was out in 2004 or 2005. Look at the TSB section.

yes! I just got a free detail from the dealer and I have this. the bottoms of my seatbelts are covered with minerals!!!!

Seems like the bolts holding them down are getting wet and seeping up the seatbelts.

Gotta find the TSB for this

Honda should goodwill it as it is a known issue. Take it to your dealer and ask them to fix it as honda is aware of it, if they refuse, ask to speak to a regional manager about good-willing it.

I had my entire back seat (leather, cushion, and seatbelts) replaced a similar issue.... My dealer took car of me.

My opinion - Take it in... they know about it...

That's cool. I just called.

What sucks is that when I toook it in 2 days ago for the detail, the tech said that he'd never seen that before, so whatever. Now that I know what the cause is, I just called and hopefully they'll fix it. They're probably getting sick of me over there (at the stealership.)

Well, my appointment is tomorrow. I've got this blog printed out (with pictures) and the service notice. Wish me luck! Thanks for all the input.

Unhappy

Well I'm working through Customer relations now... I was supposed to hear within 24 hours... I haven't and the customer rep that was writing up my problem was really stressing to me that my warranty expired at 50,000 miles (I have 52,000 miles and 1,500 of those were last week) eventho it is obvious that this has been an undetected but existing condition for a long time!

I have 2 bad seat belts, a ruined lower seat cushion and leather seat covering.

Turns out my problem stems from a defective rail/drain from the sunroof. After standing firm with Acura that I was not paying for it, they are covering all costs of the repair. I did ask them to inspect the gasket under the car that a lot of other people are having issues with but mine is fine. I would however, have the dealer check the sunroof if you are taking your car in for the gasket since the damage caused by both issues is very similar and the sunroof issue is hard to detect.
