'08 Acura TL Flip Key Programming

What's going on peeps....

Has anyone on here ever been able to successfully program a Flip Key Transmitter and/or Key with their 3G TL.

I''ve been looking for a set of new keys and was wondering if I will be able to program them myself or if I will need the dealer or a locksmith to do it for me. Also, if I have a blank key will they have to do that for me as well?

I've seen some instructions on google but I cannot confirm that they work.

If Anyone has any experience with this, can you please let me know?

Thanks!!

From what I understand you want to get something along the lines of http://www.heeltoeauto.com/switchblade-keys/ ? As for cutting itself you can go to any local hardware store (Rona, Home Hardware, etc.) and get it cut, but if they mess up the $120 key you bought, you're out the $120.

As for programming, I think the 'DIY' is swaping the immobilizer chip from your old key to your new key, correct? In Calgary the dealers are charging around $50-$65 to get it reprogrammed, but it might be cheaper in Toronto.

07+ TL's use laser cut keys since the cuts are different on each side. i dont think most locksmiths can replicate that. What they can replicate is the pre-06 style keys.

I recently got my key cut at my local acura dealer for free, great service

as for the programming there is a DIY here on acurazine. its a pretty tedious and long process but it seems to work based on reviews

I couldn't find that thread for the programmng.

I need 2 keys so for one I'll just switch the shell since the one I was given with the car is falling apart. As for the other one, I'd love to know how to program it myself but it looks like I might just have to go to the dealership for that..
