07 Type S surging/idle issue

90k on the mileage. Automatic, Car went into limp mode

tl type s code p2138 this code popped up. Shut the car off and restarted. Drove fine. But the idle bounces almost with a hesitation. Like lacking power. I’ve seen this code a lot for an APP sensor? But, my Type S is drive by wire. So I’m not sure if the fix that everyone does will work for mine ?

Thanks in advance.

That code is typically resolved by replacing the APP (Accelerator Pedal Position) sensor. All 04-08 TL's are drive by wire and use this sensor. Your car isn't any different, there is a short cable that goes from the pedal to the APP sensor and a faulty one can lead to some drivability issues, which can temporarily be fixed by shutting the car off and turning it back on.

There are a few test you can do prior to ordering a new one if you want to rule that out first. Just google P2138 for an Acura TL and you can find a few threads on this forum and others with some testing procedures. Mostly just using a multimeter to check the wiring, etc...
