07 TL Type S - Clutch problem

I recently bought a stock 07 TL Type S. It was dealer maintained. This was my first manual and love every bit of it. I also learned to drive manual with this car. I burnt the clutch when I first started to learn to drive the vehicle. (Rookie mistake). I have noticed the clutch pedal had very inconsistent feel to it. Some days it would be perfect and other days it would feel like there were particles as I pressed the clutch in. The clutch would grab great in either case. I would also notice if I went to the higher RPM range (over 3200) the clutch would be harder to release. Recently I did a small pull in 3rd gear (Took it to 5000 RPM) and shifted it into 4th, did it like a normal shift. I didn’t hear any weird noise or anything weird. But as soon I came to a stop I noticed the clutch started to stick. Getting into 1st is hard but then rest of the gears are fine. I am thinking it is a possible hydraulic issue. I read about the check valve in the slave cylinder and was going to take out soon, could the check valve be causing this issue? Also was going to replace the clutch soon, might have to change it now. Any good clutch kit recommendations? My commute is a mix of highway and city. Don’t plan doing any major mods to my car besides the J Pipe. Thanks!

I did go through the posts on this issue. Some were similar to mine but none really with the inconsistent feel with clutch when reaching higher RPMs. Then again, none have burnt their clutch.

your symptoms are exactly like mine; I changed the clutch and it fixed the sticking pedal issue..

your issue/problem stemmed from improperly operating the clutch. Change the clutch and fly wheel and you wont have the problem any more.

OEM clutch and flywheel would be your best bet...the OEM Clutch kit is made by LUK. you can find the TL's LUK clutch kit on ebay for like $150-200. and includes everything you need minus the flywheel

You wouldn’t recommend resurfacing the flywheel?

Honda doesn't recommend as it's a dual mass flywheel.

Apparently a few folks either didn't replace the flywheel or had the dual-mass flywheel resurfaced, and lo and behold, a few months later they needed a new clutch again. The LuK dual-mass flywheel is available from RockAuto for a reasonable price.

Thank you! Looks like they also have the clutch for a reasonable price as well. You guys have any recommendation on the check valve delete for the slave cylinder as well?
