07 TL intermittent knocking, mechanic has no idea.

I just bought an used 07 TL, and ever since the day I bought it, I have been having an EXTREMELY strange issue.

When I am driving, COMPLETELY randomly, the car will start to vibrate hard and even slightly shake. Followed by that, there will be an EXTREMELY loud knocking noise, which is clearly coming from the front suspension. (Once I find out how to upload video clip of the noise, I will do so.)

I have seemed to narrow down that the noise is also in correlation with the wheel spinning (Slows down as wheel slows down). I will pull over, stop, start driving again, and it wont happen for another 3 days.

Mechanic inspected everything in the suspension, engine, timing belt, and they are puzzled as everything was in perfect shape. And of course the noise wasnt replicating when test driving.

If anyone had ever had a similiar issue, or even has any thoughts, it would be greatly appreciated.

The vibration and shaking can be attributed to bad motor mounts.

A video would help, for sure. Also, it would be helpful, to know, if this condition coincides, with any particular function, like hitting a bump, applying the brakes, up/down shifting, etc. When it occurs, can it be felt in the steering wheel, the gear shift, or the accelerator, or brake pedal? An acquaintance of mine, experienced an odd, RANDOM shake/vibration issue. While such a condition, could have many sources, in his case, it was a simple matter, of sticking SLIDER PINS, in the left front brake caliper. His Technician said, everything looks perfect, suspension, mounts, brakes, etc. cheers

I second taking a hard look at the front brake calipers; my 2001 Accord had a similar intermittent issue and a partially seized brake caliper ended up being the problem.
