Lightbulb '05 TL Headlight & Turn Signal Light Issue

Hey everyone,

I'm having an issue with my TL in that the passengers side headlight. It will turn on at first switch, but will not turn back on if I ever turn the headlights on and off. Also, the front turn signal on that same side works for signaling but is never on ("on" as in dim) when the headlights are turned on, regardless of if the passengers headlight is working correctly.

Basically, the headlight is a one and dud if you turn it on and off the first time and the turn signal light only turns on when I am giving a turn signal.

I have read a few threads here and thought my problem with the headlight could lie with the ignitor, but this can't be the issue for the turn signal. Could it be an electrical connection problem?

Also, this may be related or not but the passengers marker light is flickering because Bonquisha (my car) thinks she needs problems with all the lights on the front passengers side around the same time. I don't think this light follows the same circuit as the headlights but this is just a guess from the little information I think I know.

For now, I am going to buy a replacement marker light for the front passengers side to see if that will fix that problem.

Some Acura TL wisdom and advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks guys,

Yea, I would check the bulb because there are two filaments and the parking light one could be bad. You could try plugging in the marker light from the other side and see if it flickers to see if its the light or wiring.

I just replaced a side marker that was flickering and finally went out. The epoxy seal around the outer lens had failed, allowing moisture to corrode and rust the circuit board components inside. So maybe check if the lens wants to just fall off.

Ok I should start by switching the bulbs to figure out if its a bulb issue which will be an easy fix. I figured the side marker was unrelated and independent of the front headlights but wanted to make sure. I appreciate the advice guys. I will update on my results in the next week or so.

On a similar note, i have a 2004 TL and for the past year the left front turn signal works only intermittently. When it doesnt turn on, the rear signal hyperblinks. It is not the bulb, as sometimes it works just fine. Any thoughts? Relay problem? Thx

Signal bulb is most likely a burnt out bulb.
You headlight problem is either the bulb, ignitor, or ballast. Most likely the later 2 if the color is still cool blue.

Hey all,

Sorry for posting late but I finally got my lights fixed.

Problem #1: Passengers front headlight turns on initially, but when turned off and back on, would not turn back on. Both high and low beams were affected.
Solution: Replaced the ignitor.

Problem #2: Passengers front signal light not turned on with other low beam lights like it is supposed to, but still blinked when the right signal was being given.
Solution: Replaced the bulb. Like eastcoastguy stated in this thread, the bulb is a dual filament, and the dimmer filament meant to be on alongside the headlights had burned out.

Problem #3: Passengers side marker light intermittently flickered without cause.
Solution: Replaced the side marker light (Replaced both sides as a set), like Superunknown did.

Thanks for the advice and hope this can help someone else out.

Cheers,

WDPanda, I just saw your post but you were right about either the ignitor or ballast being faulty on my headlight. Thankfully, it was only the ignitor and not the pricey ballast.

Hey Oh Sickest TL, I did see your videos but I don't believe I had the same problem. I posted my solutions in this thread but I mostly just replaced bulbs and the ignitor for the headlight and I'm sure you already tried/considered those options. I'm sorry I can't be of more help but you probably know more about our vehicles than I do.
