05 6MT revving/acceleration/transmission issue?

Hi, it's been years since I've posted here. I have an issue with my 05 6MT that I've owned for the last 10 years. It's a little hard to describe, so please bear with me.

When I accelerate in 3rd or 4th gear going around 25-30 mph, engine RPM would go start going up by ~1000 RPMs, then it should drop ~500 RPMs, then start going up again. This is without me changing and pressure on the gas pedal, feels like the car hesitates. This issue happens in other gears as well, but most prominent in 3rd and 4th.

The problem is always re-producible, but also some times something different happens. I would be in 3/4/5th gear, I step on the gas pedal, the RPMs would keep going up (to redline), but the car is not accelerating. Almost like it's not even in gear, even though it's been in gear and all I did was try to accelerate. This doesn't always happen, but happens most when the car is cold.

There's no check engine light or anything else wrong, but I already changed the APPS sensor and MAS sensor. Didn't help at all.

Any help here is appreciated. Thanks!

As already stated...clutch is done. If RPMs are going up and the vehicle isn't accelerating, it is in gear and clutch pedal is released, there are only a couple of things that could be happening:

1.) Tires are spinning
2.) Axle is broken
3.) Clutch is slipping

Pretty sure #1 you would know. #2 you would really be going anywhere. So that leaves #3.

OP doesn't have an auto and trans fluid level has no role in power delivery in a MT.

Thanks guys. Looks like time for a new clutch. 120k on the original clutch isn't too bad.

Get the LUK clutch kit from rockauto. Take it from 1st hand experience here, make sure you replace the flywheel at the same time, not much more money. Rockauto has those also by LUK.
