whats going on people. i gotta problem here and i need sum imput. recently i noticed that my car wont rev up to redline. doesnt matter if the traction control is on or off. as soon as the engine hits about 5800 it feels like the rev limiter is hitting. any thoughts on what it might be?

 

Is this when you are revving the engine or while driving in gear? I know the TL will not hit redline under no load or when revving the engine.

 

when in gear it happens sometimes in 1st everytime in 2nd n 3rd. when it happens the car jerks like i hit the rev limiter but then continue to rev up to the redline.

 

Could be the engine is knocking at hi rpm and retarding timing, cutting power and making the engine reluctant to rev to redline.

 

Any Check engine lights?
what kind of gas are you using?

 

no, no engine checklight and i only run 93octane. i dont understand why it happens sumtimes in first and all the time in 2nd n 3rd.

 

Any gasoline smell? Your car might be running to rich, to much gas coming out of the injectors can choke your car at high RPM. Had that same issue on my turbo 95 celica. I put supra injectors and since the car wasn't dyno or tuned yet, when I took it out of the shop it wouldn't rev more than 5,500 Rpms

 

it will do it in the higher gears because there is more load on the engine compared to first

have you checked your plugs?
