Wheel gap

So I installed the Eibach Pro-Kit 1" drop springs on my front shocks this week. Did not do the rears, and now I am reluctant to do the rears. When I look at the car the first thing I see is the wheel gap. To me it looks about even with the drop springs in front and stock springs in the back. The body is raked a bit based on the angle of the sideskirts, which I like.

Is this typical? If the body of the car were perfectly level, the rear wheel gap would be much less than the front wheel gap. I don't like that look, as it looks like the rear suspension is sagging, when really the body is level. I'd rather have the wheel gap even and the car raked like it is.

I think that the body is raked towards th back when stock. That's why a lot of springs lower the front a little more than the rear, to make the car level. But your springs will settle more so there will be even more front rake. Just give it a few weeks

yeah when i installed my eibach springs, it took a little bit to settle and eventually front n rear matched up. you saw in my pictures how the gap was even all the way around.

i'd say just give it some more time, drive around on them and let them compress a bit. oh and install the rears too, have fun with that rear seat!

I doubt you are going to notice much visible change from what you see now. You might notice a small change if you are measuring your ride height but I wouldn't expect drastic changes at most maybe 1/16" to 1/8" of a difference.

Well that is the point of this thread basically. It seems like if the rear drops an inch it will look "saggy". I guess I'll see if the fronts settle at all, but I'm not expecting too much of a change. The fact that the gap looks even, plus the fact that the rear is a pain to get to, is making me think I'll leave the rear stock. Or put the rears in and have to cut the front springs... hmm...

^i wouldn't go cutting up your springs, but that's just my opinion.

now that i think about it, i installed the base model eibach springs on my type-s, and i have an automatic (heavy up front) so maybe that's why my gap looks pretty even.

i think the base VS typs-s eibach spring rates are different as well.

idk...just throwing some ideas out there. if you like the way it looks as is, and don't wanna risk the saggy look...then just stay where you are.

Same car, same springs Your gap looks exagerated because of the 17" wheels.

^ Thanks for the info, I've got the black chrome A-Spec wheels waiting to go on. Once I'm sure the snow is done for the year.

I'm 6MT as well, only way to go!

This is Eibach kit# 4070.140 which appears to be the application for all 3G TL's whether I select 04 base, 06 base, 07 Type-S, etc. And there doesn't seem to be any distinction on the Eibach site regarding AT/MT. Where are you guys getting this info? There are part #s on the springs which I could check into, but I'm pretty sure the kit would have a different # and you'd have to specify AT/MT.

so I would think that the eibach springs only cater towards the AT.
I hate cars had an interesting thread about spring rates and shocks and saying something about the geometry being off....I'm not too well versed. but is another reason why I havent dropped my car yet.

Spring part #s are 4044.001 and 4044.002

IHC is teh smrt. I'm not prepping the car for road racing though. It is just a nice reliable DD. It is possible to over-think some things. Sometimes things matter in theory, or at the extreme edge of performance, but not so much in a situation that you're going to face on the road.

As everyone is different, I dont use my car as a DD. I would love to set up my car as a fun "flying around corners" car. I dont track it, but want to set it up for that so called extreme edge of performance. well, to a degree.

I bought the same springs and they should be coming in next week.. i ordered part number: 4044.140 (Eibach Pro-kit).

Is this the right model for 6 speed TLs?

Thanks!

Yeah near as I can figure the 4044.140 kit is for all 3G TL's, any trim level, AT or MT. That is the kit I have. The spring part numbers are the 4044.001 and 4044.002

Thanks. I hate that look. First noticed that on the previous generation Maximas. It reminds me of an old ass Oldsmobile with blown out rear suspension.
