Unexpected mod tonight

Oh yeah baby - check out this mod from tonight.

Driving the dealers loaner Hyundai Sonata home from a family B-Day party:

After:

I felt totally pimped out for the last few miles home!

Took 'only' 15 minutes to change it, not too shabby I suppose for doing it on the side of the road in darkness with only an iPhone 'flashlight' and the shitty scissor jack / wimpy lug 'wrench' having to 'locate' everything for the first time on an unfamiliar vehicle and all with the whole family asleep the car.

Sigh

It's a loaner anyway, who cares if the differential gets messed up. At least that's how I'd look at it.

I just meant even it is was a front flat I know I wouldn't be taking a rear off to put up front to put the spare on the rear.

Your crazy modding ideas and skills aside, I'm curious to see if you will be on the hook for this tire. I know typically when you get a rental car you are responsible for all scratches, dents, damages etc, but never really thought about blown/flat tires.
I personally have rented dozens and dozens of cars but never had a flat. Again just curious.

I'd imagine that he wouldn't be liable for this but you never know. Like EL BAN said, you should have got them to cheer you on! Motivation is a hell of a drug.

Nah. A reputable rental company would have sent over another car but that would take more than an hour. @revolutn's pit crew skills got him back on the road in 15 minutes.

I like the blacked out rim.

We'll see I'm sure I won't be on the hook, for one thing it's a Dealership LOANER as opposed to an actual Enterprise/Hertz etc rental.

But despite this threads incredible weakness ( thanks anx1300c )and complete lack of substantive turtle discussion (sorry tl-frank ), I'll post back after I get in touch with them Monday morning to see what's what - just for you man, because that's how Rev rolls.

Yeah a (F) family member quipped "That's why I have AAA, though it sometimes takes them a while...."

To wit I replied: "Exactly, I was back on the road while you'd have still been on the phone providing 'details' to them."

I like the blacked out rim too Maybe I'll change the other 3!!

Thanks Rev for rolling the way you do

In terms of AAA, I have it, but have never used it for a car for myself. My daughter managed to lock the keys to her car inside and AAA had her on her way in about 40 mins total (from initial call to back on the road). IIRC I think I have been able to bail some folks out by being a AAA member. There are likely times when on the side of the road, in the dark or in the pouring rain or a snow storm or a combination where it may be smarter and safer to have AAA come help out only if from only to have the tow truck with it's flashing lights as some protection. AAA also has some decent discounts for shopping, movie tickets, lodging and insurance. I have used all of them
I would have to look but believe I save about 6% annually with my insurance carrier because I am a AAA member. YMMV..........
I'm not advocating for everyone to become a AAA member but they do have some pretty good upsides vs. waiting for them to show up.............

Ironical humor is not for everyone...

Everyone THINKS they have a sense of humor but then they don't all!:

Meanwhile I swear I have a black cloud following me around lately.

Tonight my wife's Pilot HFL went ape shit and refused to release the system, so we had a 2 hour ride in heavy traffic with no music!

I did use Acurazine to help diagnose and at least temporarily fix the problem since I was riding shotgun not driving.

We tried holding the cancel / hangup button for a 5 count and the diags came back "HFL is OK"
We could make and receive a phone call (tested it out for the halibut) But even after disconnecting those test calls the HFL was still stuck on the HUD unit.

Ultimately had to disconnect the battery upon arriving home to reset the system, re-enter the Radio & Nav security codes, but HFL was back in it's cage, and the radio was functioning.

Had read that a HFL module that is stuck can be a battery drain, so I thought it better to disconnect her battery at 10PM at night than to get up at 5am to give her a jump

So I was not on the hook for anything, as I suspected I would not be.

I did have to 'swap' loaner cars, which meant unloading all my sh!t, most notably 2 child safety seats utilizing the LATCH system, so...ugh no the worst thing ever but getting a bit sick of installing uninstalling installing uninstalling.

Dealer now 'hopes' to have my car ready late Wednesday.

Thanks for the update!! And I hear you on the car seats. Been there, done that many moons ago and we didn't have the LATCH system. You had to install a clip on the seatbelt after you had cinched the seat down with you knee in it.............
