Stephen's '04 TL 6spd Progress Thread

I like my 2g tl alot but hated that it was an auto, I was close to swapping it to a six speed but I dont have the time or tools so the cost to have someone do it was rising fast. I started searching for a 3G TL because I liked the styling and new they came with a six speed. After searching for over 6 months I found a 2004 SSM Acura TL 6 speed. I purhcased it Novemeber, 19th 2013 and had to drive all the way to North Carolina to get it. It was a one owner that only had 77,xxx miles with the 105k mile service done a year ago. The local Acura dealer had all the records for the car and it had a clean carfax. The car drives and feels like a brand new car.

The day I got it.

Two days later I took it into get tint

at a local meet

Got new sidemarkers and Type s tailights for christmas

I ordered an full aspec kit and wanted to get the front bumper repainted because of rock chips. While i was there they offered to clear the headlights and they came out great. I also deleted the intake resonator for a little more noise.

Started the sideskirts

couple days later I started the rear

Ordered a rear trunk lip got my finger in one of the pictures

Installed some LEDS everywhere

Got a Aspec suspension because I didn't want to lower the car to much but wanted a slight drop with better handling. I have only driven 50 miles on it but I love it so far.

Got a progress rear sway bar to install this weekend

Future plans
18" aspec wheels with 255-40-18 tires
RV6 HFPC ceramic coated silver
ATLP Jpipe and race pipe or ATLP V2R jpipe or RV6 v3 jpipe
ATLP catback or RV6 true dual
Lightweight crank pulley
Type s intake manifold and ported runners
4" intake

I dig it! Welcome to 6MT land. Did you drill holes for the spoiler or is it 3M taped? I saw the instructions and considered putting on a base spoiler as well, but I don't know... Looking forward to seeing it in person.

Congrats! How do you like it? I love mine so far. Drone is minimal IMO, even at highway speeds.

I love it and the drone is not as bad as I would have thought since there is no resonator. At highway speeds it doesn't drone at all

Dude, you're in jax? How much do you want for your TL? J/k...but seriously, I've been looking for a TL over toward jax or here in pcola, but haven't been able to find one for months. And yours is exactly what I'd like to do with mine when I get one (if I ever find one). Keep it up, and keep it simple...Looks great!

Thanks, It takes time to find a good condition 6 speed. I looked for over 6 months to find the one I wanted, and I had to drive to North Carolina to get it. Just be patient and you will find a good one you just might have to travel to get it.

Great progress on the car!

Let me know if you need runners or a type s manifold. I'm switching both of mine out this weekend for ported versions and will be looking to get rid of them
