SLR / DSLR Photos of a 3G

So, i've been contemplating buying a DSLR camera, but I dont know if I really feel like shelling out $1k for good camera

Basically, I only take pictures of my car, so I wanted to see some awesome shots that were taken with an SLR / DSLR camera (Rebel, Nikon D series, Sony Alpha)

Post em up!

Yo Allon, do it! Don't have to spend 1k, and plus you already got the photoshop skills

this is like the 3G paradise thread all over again...

anyways, i say definitely get a DSLR if you can....hell, i sold my 17" PowerBook G4 just so i could get my Nikon D80 and extra lens...and loooooove it! ...though i shoot more than just my car with it...

those were all taken with my Nikon D80 DSLR and enhanced in photomatix and photoshop...

for other shots (not cars) taken with my DSLR, go here to my flickr photostream...

Definately get a DSLR if you can.
A nice canon will run you about 5-$600.
Photoshop is a big help when it comes to working with most photos as you can see from a few pics above.

thanks for the replies... im not just going for another 3G paradise thread, i only wanted to see DSLR photos

basically, i could spent a couple hundred dollars for one + lenses

right now, i can get a brand new Rebel 300D body (6.3mp) with the 18-55mm lense, for $200.... i know its the old one, and they are up to XTi (10.1)

but $200, good deal right?? i would still need to buy the 75-300mm lense, a tripod and abattery charger.. this camera is brand new, but the charger was missing... been left around at my job for like a year and a half, and its clearance to $200... tempting

200?! DO IT! I mean you're only going to use it for your car anyways, and even if your not...200 bucks is a DEAL.

even though its the old body camera? you still think its a good purchase?

aside from the resolution, is there any advantage to the XT or XTi ?? If you guys know how i roll, when i buy something, i only like to buy quality. i dont want to spend $200, and be missing out on better features if i shelled out $500 for the XT or $800 for the XTi

its brand new in the box, just missing the charger. somebody purchased one from us like 2 years back and it didnt have a charger, so we opened a new one and gave it to the customer. So this one has been sitting there for a year w/ no charger. it does have everything else though.. i played with it yesterday, seemed to work 100% as new

+ it's still got the warranty card in it.. im wondering If i can register it as brand new through Canon, even though its a 2 year old model..

nice. jump on it.. The rolling shots in my thread were shot with a 300D. 18-55mm lense .

It's not the camera that makes the magic. It's how you take the pics.

From what ive heard..there's no HUGE HUGE difference between the XT and the XTi. I think most DSLR's are the same anyways, it really depends on the photographer and settings and ofcourse the post editing.

I say get the 300D.

well, when we compared camera's, this is what we noticed..

my 400D:
-had more focus points
-different settings when we edited the RAW pics
-6.1mp? vs. 10.1(huge mp war)

There were more but i forgot...

for $200 this should have been a "I just got a smoken deal on a DSLR " thread. Awesome price I'd go for it Alon. I got my 20D on ebay for about $500 from a photographer that kept it as his backup and it was practicially brand new.

As for your warrenty I would think that if you buy it from your work and have a recipt that you bought it recently that it should have a warrenty?

heres a thread in the photography forum that mostly dslr shots of cars

I say get the 300D for $200, get used to it....if you decide you want to upgrade from there you can always sell the 300 for what you paid for it, if not more

I don't post-process the hell out of mine. I just resize, hit a touch of unsharp mask, then the simple border.

This was with a 5d and 70-200L f2.8 IS (aboot $5k worth of stuff)

here's a few items on the 400D compared to the 300D...

-New 10.1 effective Megapixel CMOS sensor (versus 8.0 on the Rebel XT)
-New dust reduction system
-Large 2.5" LCD display (versus 1.8" on the XT)
-No more LCD info display (the main LCD is used instead)
-9-point autofocus system (versus 7-point)
-Can now take more shots in a row in burst mode (27 vs 14 JPEG, 10 vs 6 RAW)
-New Picture Styles feature, first seen on the EOS-5D and 30D
-Battery life is 10% lower than on the XT

so if those are important to you, then get the 400D...otherwise i've read the 300D is just as good...but also keep in mind that a DSLR will let you preview your shots as you take them...the SLR (300D) won't...

oh wait wait...the 300D is an SLR not a DSLR? I didn't know that!

Hmmm...I'd go for the 350D then or the Nikon D40.
