gotta get this off my chest...
IMO all mods must have purpose and reason for doing them....can someone here tell me the reason and purpose for having a black overlay on your roof? does it have any purpose at all??? is it useful and have functionality??
is it because we all wanna match that big black sunroof on top??
i don't mind the CF hoods on white cars because at least it lighten the weight of the car.
i'm not a fan of black on white combo at all, if i wanted black, i'd have bought a black TL.
i wonder why black TL owners don't do their roof with white overlay.....
enough said....damn morning mood....

wow, looks like someone didnt get any last night?!?!?!
since there are really only a few performance mods for our car, i can TOTALLY see why people do the cosmetic mods. clearing the headlights, useless. changing the pedals, useless. a new shifter knob, useless. different rims, useless unless they are lighter. tinting windows, useless unless you live in the desert. new steering wheel, really useless. LED conversion on any light, cool, but useless.
so whats the purpose of this mod? to make his car not look like yours.
i also found a thread where you were looking for the aspec kit, what is the purpose of that? its just some stupid plastic.

they're just my opinion....aspect kit makes our TL night and day and they're HOT!
again IMO, black overlay is NOT hot on my list.
end of story....

Dunno but for the price its good winter roof protection and I 'd just redo it in the spring ..

I was thinking about doing this same mod. It looks good, but I'm still undecided. When I look at MaCay's avatar it makes me love this mod more and more. My only problem is I feel I would have to go w/a black on chrome wheel set up or polished w/black inserts and I'm more leaning w/a polished or gunmetal wheel choice...

god that looks good on white.
one question though... how will that fare in regards to weather/normal wear being you live in Canada... Also I know you do detailing scratches are bound to happen from normal washing and drying - even if they are small... Any change from your normal detailing process?

Actually the only change to my daily detailing is I dry the roof first now because it gets hotter and I feel drying it wetter will lessen the chance of any marring .. I do use WW towels to dry so thats covered ..
As for waxing it .. I don't think I'd put a sealant on it like Zaino or Klasse SG .. I used ClearKote Vanilla Moose Glaze on it and it looks great ..
I'm not really concerned about the weather part .. car is garage parked and snow/ice doesn't accumulate on it .. and like I said above .. even if something happens it a cheap easy mod to replace. A lot easier than polishing out scratches on a painted black roof ... been there .. done that .. my last few cars were black.

It's not totally my style but I must admit the contrast really looks good on WDP as long as you have that black/white theme going on everywhere. The good thing is that the TL's roof shape is especially suited for this mod. The roof rails flow just right. This would not look good on just any car. Good job.

I REALLY like the idea to do this on my WDP TLS,
BUT BUT BUT, how difficult is it to take it off, and will it damage the paint?
Let's say I leave it on for 2 years, then I would want to remove it...what are the consequences?
Thanks!
