Roof Overlay

Looks great! I'm definitely interested in doing this mod, but can you provide more details on the install. How hard was it? Did it come out as good as you wanted it to? Is the line up the middle visible? Maybe you can provide some close-up shots... THANKS!

3) What took 2 hours?, that looks like a 15 minute job. 15 min if you want a mess .. 2 hours to squugie out the water .. heat and fit around sun roof... remove and replace weld strips.
Thanks

I removed the weld strips and the clips that hold them just to make it easier ( if you do a search on my name you will see where RonA posted a "how to" for me.
I cleaned the roof with IPA and made sure it was dust free.
Wiped down both sides of the overlay with a damp lint free damp cloth.
Lay the overlay black side down on the roof and removed the paper backing ..
Sprayed the sticky side of the overlay with a mix of water with a few drops of dish soap in it.
Here is where you need help ..
You need to flip the overlay over on the roof.
Slide it in place allowing enough to go down inside the sunroof opening .
Open the sunroof
Use a credit card covered with a very soft cloth ( I used a low nap microfiber towel ) ... squirt the cloth with the soapy water ..
Then from the middle of the large section squeegie the water outwards till you have most of it out .
then use a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the film and form it down into the edges of the sunroof opening.
Then using a credit card and some imagination tuck the front under the windshield rubber.
If you have a good light put it on the opposite side of the roof .. makes it easier to see any water under the film.
Next I cut off any excess at the rear window and using a little heat I sealed it down the slot between the roof and window.
Last I did the side.
Then reinstall the weld strip ..
Reapeat on other side.

Was around $85 shipped I think .. nice part is if you tire of it a little time and a heat gun and you remove it with no paint damage.

Day 2 update
After a warm day the overlay has seemed to pull itself tighter and the few moisture bubbles that were present have dispursed.
I did have a couple very light scratches that I inflicted by letting the cloth I was using over the credit card for a squeegie dry out too much. I used a cleaner glaze ( Vanilla Moose by ClearKote) and it pretty well eliminated all of them plus it removed the natural oxidization from the film and gave it a gloss black paint look.
When squeegieing ( is that a word? ) out the moisture below the film make sure you keep the top wet for lubrication.
