Quest for the cleanest modded TL-S continues! (New mods and V1 install 4/28)

you shall not be disappointed. before i do anything i mean anything. i research it, then i research it again. i put alot of thought in it. then envision it on the car. it will definitely be unique, and will add a subtle touch of class and sportiness the the already awesome interior of the car. and not this CF monstrosity people might think it will be.
i like to think i have good taste and a clear vision of what i want. and not do anything to cheapen or ruin the look of the car. stay tuned guys, an Anti-Di-Noc thread is on the horizon.

ive been meaning to post this in here..not sure how it would work with white, but i bet its possible..the way ive seen it done is carbonfiber with a candy overlay..would sick tho..even got carbon fiber in the headlights..its subtle and tasteful, but definately there. Just not sure how DIYable this is.

get!!
they dont VEI systems does
heres what i got so far, i worked last night so im sleepy, must take a nap. ill finish this later. it's coming out ok.
i'll fiberglass the backside of the A-pillar and inner walls of the pod to form a single piece. right now its only hot glued together. after that ill wrap the entire a-pillar in the same cloth material for a finished OEM look
what do you guys think? ya or nay?

My honest opinion is that this would work for 99.9% of ANY AZiners for a nice clean install.
But we're talking about YOU, Jamie. I might be going out on a limb here, but you're never one to ask for 'yay' or 'nay', so I think you're second guessing the install. Why?
...because you push the limits and think outside the box! I know you can come up with something beyond this! Maybe consider removing the gauge from the housing altogether? This way your limitation is the cleanest place to install a circular gauge....
Just sayin'. It will look great as is. ...but almost everything you do is done with EPIC in mind...

Thanks, the unit will be stealth mounted. You'll have to wait to see where I put it though. If my idea stands, It should be clean and work well.
Thanks Dan, I could have done something super stealth, with the V1 hidden display unit. I could have hidden it completely from sight. After finding the VEI unit, the look of it was soo cool. It wasn't this boring box. But rather a cool looking billet aluminum gauge with matching red LEDs for the type-s interior lighting. I knew I had to do an A-pillar pod, and show it off. My goal then was to make the pod install as seamless as possible. To make it look as if it came equipt with a pod like that from the factory. Once I wrap the A-pillar/pod I think I'll get that look.
I've done an install of a pod like this on a type-s before using a shift light gauge. It looked good almost OEM. I also have seen pillar pods installed on tl's But I could still tell it was just added or slapped on.

progress pics the pillar is ready for the cloth wrap. i have headliner material thats an exact match to the oem fabric used on the pillars. so it should look flawless and most of all stock or semi-stock
fiber glassed the inner walls and part of the outside. this is super solid pretty much one piece now.
ground down rough areas and added some body filler to smooth and feather out the edges
sanded down
sprayed some black primer before wrapping
thats all for now until i finish, next i'll be creating the V1's new home, stay tuned

Already it's looking OEM even in it's rough form.
Removing the outter trim of the gauge-pod and 'integrating' it with the pillar was a smart choice.
I see you used the FG cloth instead of the mat. It's much nicer and easier to work with... and best of all no itching!
Love the weather where you are! It keeps snowing here...

Thanks guys.
Yeah I didn't want to see any other lines in it. Wanted to make it look as factory as possible. The cloth is neater, I use the mat when I need filling or there's hard shapes or angles. I can't complain on the weather here in so cal I think it will hit 80 degrees today. Sorry.
I just think outside the box I guess. I imagine the stuff on there before and do research and see if it will actually fit or look ok. Thanks, my quest seems never ending.
thanks man.
Thank you, I appreciate the kind words. I'm glad my mods and ride serve as an inspiration to others on here.

Man. I haven't looked at this thread in a loooong time, and you got a whole lot done. Very Impressive. Definitely my favorite WDP. The attention to the details is incredible.
I've got a few questions for you regarding your iphone install. Will pm you soon.
