This will save me a lot of time and a bit of money. I was going to buy 4 cans of plastidup and 3 cans of orange spray paint. Then it would have been more work too; probably like 10 coats total with Dip+paint.
I think I'll go with Lime green after the Orange gets old...
ANYWAYS.
I had some free time today. here's a quick one for you guys
I like how the aspec is conveniently sitting in the background. Luckily the lugnuts ended up being the perfect size. 50mm lugs would have stuck out a lot.

OK! I just got pulled over lol.
I was headed on 66 East towards Manassas and that highway is notorious for having a million state troopers just about every mile. I know they're always there; so I always set my cruise control for 65mph and cruise (Speed limit is 55). So I'm cruising in the left lane, doing my thing and all I see a cop in the median (as usual). I think nothing of it until he pulls out. I've had plenty of mini heart attacks from cops pulling out and just passing me or getting someone else, so I wasn't really worried.
My exit was coming up so I carefully and nonchalantly began to make my way to the right lane. The cop started to follow me until he was in the lane next to me. He pulled up next to me, I switched lanes again and he slowed down, got behind, and I saw the blue in my rear view.
Damn. I didn't know what he could possibly be pulling me over for; I always pass cops going 65 and have never been bothered. I pulled over, assumed the position; turned on all the lights in the car, pulled out my wallet, and went for my registration. Shit; not in the glovebox. I remembered its in my owner's manual which is in the trunk due to my PS2 killing my glovebox space. Oh well.
He comes up rather quickly (usually they take forever to actually come up to your window) and says "The reason I'm pulling you over is for window tint. Have you ever been pulled over for it before?" I say no, never been bothered for it. He asks for my license and registration, handed over my license and told him my registration is in the trunk; I can grab it if he wants. He said no and took a look at my license. He looks up, and notices some items in my passenger side footwell.
Now, I've been riding around with 2 Colt BB guns (CO2 powered) and they look REMARKABLY real; (full metal, no orange/yellow tip) and they were just sitting in my footwell... I forgot all about them.
He whips out his flashlight and points it at them "Are those your weapons?"
"No sorry They're just BB guns, didn't mean to scare you...Should've mentioned them earlier." Cop laughs.
He handed me back my license, Took his flashlight to my tint and said "When I pulled up next to you they looked pretty dark but now they dont seem so bad. I'm just gonna cut you loose. Have a good night. Passed me my license and left.
ROFL. My tint is 100% illegal. In VA the tint laws are 50% front and 35% rear. When I was getting my tint, I decided on going with 20% rear and 35% front for this very reason; if a cop just glances, he sees that the front is lighter than the rear and assumes its legal. Its funny because I've been debating about swapping my front windows for 20% to make it all match too lol. Not anymore!
Honestly though I think its partially due to my SUPER bright white interior LEDs.

Sorry, got pulled over by a trooper 2 weeks ago so it's a sore subject. Mine didn't let me go, and honestly, with good reason.

haha don't worry man, I've had plenty of cops hand me tickets that were well deserved too lol
It's also funny because just 10 minutes beforehand I engaged in some spirited driving with a slammed VW Golf lol. But that was before I got on the notorious 66!

i just pull the windows up when I jump on the highway....i have them ~50% open....the roof is always tilted
gotta love the fresh air coming in....and makes you less of a target for tints ticket

I never drive with the windows open. The car looks too good with the windows rolled up. Looking at me in the car only ruins the look of the car....

Jeremy, ditto....now a days when i leave home for work, its around 62-63deg outside and i drive with my windows down (all city driving
) love that coool wind hitting the face....and body incase I have my pants off to avoid a ticket

Agreed...a dick cop is a dick cop, but the one in the story ended up being cool. Thinking all authority is out to get you is a very juvenile approach.

Thinking about it more, honestly I was pretty lucky. If I were him I would still have pulled out the tint tool and written a ticket lol.
I had been planning on swapping out my tint for a while now. When I first got it I didn't have moleskin so now I have a lot of vertical scratches in my tint and I've been wanting to swap it out for 20% tint but I won't be anytime soon. I'd never been pulled over for tint before; I guess the fact that I always leave my sunroof visor open and the light parchment interior made it pretty unnoticeable.
As for me, I typically drive around with my windows about half down blasting music especially when I'm alone. But if there's people in the car and always on the highway I can't stand the windows down; too much noise lol.
The BB guns are both full metal Colts; one was in a holster and one just laying out...in the cops defense, I had a can of BBs and a box of CO2 canisters next to them so it was pretty obvious lol. Yeah; I'm 21 and still play with a BB gun...but I'm in the process of getting a Concealed carry license so I can get something legit and not worry about having it in the car or on me. In VA its legal to open carry almost anywhere though. The BB guns I've had forever lol and I don't carry them around. Just a toy.
Anyway. Pics of the volks coming tomorrow. Godamn dipyourcar.com still hasn't shipped my plastidip. I'm starting to think my halloween setup won't be in place until my birthday next weekend.
