Project_CLeans Progress Thread

What's going on A-Zine,
Figured since the weather's finally getting nicer, I might as well start a thread on my Acura TL. This is going to be one of those threads that are updated, every once in a while.Although the way things are looking for me, I might be getting a lot done sooner than expected. I purchased the car just about 6 months ago. and the only mods so far are K-Sport coilovers, tinted windows, and an "upgraded" sound system.Without further ado; this is my 2005 Acura TL, 6MT.Navi with a type S conversion all around.

the first day me and my friend put the suspension in:

sittin pretty;

Key i ordered from HeelToe, Great key honestly. I only purchased the milled version, and cut and programmed it myself since i work at Acura. The key felt almost too thick still, so i sanded it down some, and hit it with a wire wheel-it smoothed right down and i Could not be happier. Funny how something so simple can bring a smile along with it.

Updates This coming week:
Replace and Paint front bumper cover and install a Type-S lip. Will put pics up ASAP!

Thanks guys; and as I've stated before. The badging was on since the original owner had the car. Trust me; it makes me cringe a little everytime I see it.it will be coming off soon.

Thanks guys; and yea the wheels are curbed. There's a guy that comes to the place I work and repairs each wheel along with re painting them for 50 each. I've been waiting for it to warm up for at least a consecutive 2 weeks before I call him and make the appointment, don't need any surprise snow after they're done. Insxtc: the key itself is sold thru heeltoe(a vender on this side) I cut and programmed myself. This will usually run an hours labor:and here that's $120/hr. Heeltoe will cut and program for you at a small additional cost. Check out their website. ALSO, my front lip shipped in to the dealership this morning...

Well, this week I will be getting the front cover replaced and repainted,at the same time-the lip will be installed.. I'm debating whether to get an intake so I can finish everything at the front end of the car at the same time;or get the wheels refinished. Decision will be made in the next few days.

^^ Go for the wheels I regret shelling out 200 dollars for an intake. Btw the car looks great.

and might as well share these here too; my previous "projects"::

my pride and joy:rest in peace

..she was sold, and owner crashed/totaled it 2 weeks later. biggest mistake i made

The replacement for the heartbreak:
a 99 accord,

02 coupe front end conversion:

Sold the accord and decided i needed to "move up" to bigger problems,

BMW was a fun car;came with not so fun headaches; so i sold and picked up an 02 IS300(5 speed..can you say rare?)

Missed my CL, so bad in fact. that i sold my lexus, picked up a 98 CL, as the 'sequel' to my PandaCL.

i worked on it for a few months(if that), including new suspension-literally every link, bushing, and suspension part i needed along with K-Sport Springs. Wrapped Headliner and A,B,C pillar panels in suede.Installed a DVD player,a system, blackout headlamps,HIDs. annnd then i stood back and looked at it, and it was all over for me. I was trying to accomplish something that couldn't be topped,my original CL was built in memory of 2 friends that passed away. and it just wasn't the same.

SO, I sold that too..and waited, searched, looked for a car that might be worthy as my next project. I accidentally came across a TL with a Type-S conversion, "ha,another one of these cars?" i said to myself, clicked the link, and i wanted it. lol. So a couple of days later, i come home with:

i have only had the tl since the beginning of October.Let's hope she lasts longer than the others.

i have an addiction to low cars, so not even 2 full days later;she was Dropped:

yea i agree. it is a great car. i think i've just been getting a little bored because i haven't had much time to really get into modding it like i have my other cars. but i should feel better this week. , also looking to get vent visors, and possibly spacers, although im not sure if i would rub or not. I rub periodically on steep inclines already, im afraid it would just be worse unless i add more camber.

I'm not a fan of the painted grill, but looks like they did a nice job on it. Overall car looks great so far. Better take off that Type-S badge before SB has an aneurysm.

Very nice but gotta paint this hubs and calipers as the rust i can see thru the wheels really detracts from the look.

Keep up the good work.

lol. wow. thanks for the compliments, and i know about the badge, it will be coming off tommorrow before it (hopefully) gets buffed. Ebelp; the IS3 was a good car,not as bad in the winter as the E46,but I did have a system that weighs at least 50 pounds, and if i remember correctly it had a full spare + dunlop winters. Sometimes i actually miss the IS, it was a fun car, and the trannys in those paired with the 2JZ was a perfect match. I found myself a little too close to poles too many times with the E46 for my comfort. jeremy: thanks man, i don't have nearly as much work done as you, but hey; at least I started. Swoosh and Veggie; thanks. It does have some imperfections as all paint does. But for the age,it is pretty clean and im happy with it. Maybe sometime in the next few months, I'll see what i can do about a new paintjob .

NOW: what do you guys think about the "home depot" lip? cause im on my way to get it. lol

Home depot lip can look good a NBP that is lowered over 2 inches... A lot of folks on here will give you shit for it, but honestly I think NBP is the only colored car that can pull it off.... Did I mention you must be lowered over 2 inches? Otherwise it will look a little funny.

It protects the front lip of your car when going over inclines and makes it look a little lower... I like it, but not on any other colored cars.

I really like your grill. I vinyled mines with gloss black. Also, prior to clicking the link for the Acura TL, when you owned your accord, is300, bmw, and acura CL when you saw a acura TL on the road did it ever make you look twice? Did it ever catch your attention?

The reason I ask is because there are a lot of people that are into the "tuner" cars (ie. rsx, civic, integra, accord, prelude, cl, is300) and don't really look twice or care for nicer upscale luxury cars like the Acura TL.... When I drive past ricers in their civics with stickers they don't even acknowledge my TL. Not that I'm asking for attention, but it just seems that people that are into that side of cars don't really like anything BUT those cheap cars...

I was one of those people. Prior to owning the TL, I only had interest in those cheap economy small "import tuner" style cars (wanted a 94-01 integra SEDAN), but now after owning the TL it really opened my eyes to the luxury-sport side of cars and now I will never want to own a car that isn't luxury oriented lol.

^^^ kinda agree with you there VIET....the HD lip looks good on darker colored, more than 2" lowered car.....the only car which pulls it off well is swampy's car....

If I had the lip on the car, and I installed it at, say...home depot...I'd probably leave it there in the home depot parking lot from scraping. I already scrape the oem wind diffuser. The beauty of the 3G is you can get F&F coilovers, put it on the ground, and still have pretty decent ground clearance.

HD lip, NOT APPROVED.

Sharky, pretty funny you came in and mentioned it, John said you'd have an aneurysm in post 26 and you did.
