A long overdue update.....(11-13-13)...Back to the Type S

Exotic looks - check.
Exotic performance - check.
Domestic pricetag - check.
Well, that checks all the boxes!
Altho Im not sure I love the wheels on that one. Maybe hold off a bit to see some more options.
Did you get to drive it?!?
Edit: Also - needs moar low. Can't believe the fender gap on it, even more than our cars stock.
Damnit, I wonder if I'll ever leave a car unmodified again, here I am critiquing the new vette...damn forums...

that new model looks great! it didn't even look like a vette at first.
but that wheel gap is embarrassing...for real haha.
the rims are too plain also, but overall that car looks awesome.
like others have said, did you test drive it?

That vette looks real good, but as everyone said wheel gap wayway to much. But I still
think the porsche is a better built car. As far as maintenance goes between both cars,
I couldn't say. How's the insurance for the cars?

Guys, this one was the non-Z51 package. So it did not have the nice wheels. Yesterday (Friday) I went back in to place an order and saw the Z51 packaged Stingray.
I'll post pictures of this one later today.
Insurance is not cheap. It's less money for the 7 year old GT3. I wrote back to them about pricing on the Porsche. They said they were a "fixed price" dealership. They also said that they would write me when and if the price goes down.
All the cars this dealership has are sold, but they'll have a car for me to drive in the next week or two. Wheel gap will be smaller with the ZO7 package that will come out in another year with 600 horsepower.
Too late.............

^^^ I was waiting to see if someone noticed what I wrote.....
Yes, yesterday I ordered one in Velocity Red (just like you see there). Here is the build-out......
-7 speed manual transmission
-Z51 package
-3LT package
-carbon fiber interior (naturally)
-velocity red/black interior
-regular seats (not the competition seats)
-red calipers
-magnetic suspension
-dual mode exhaust
-Stingray door sills
We might take delivery at the plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky. It all depends on when they will build mine. I'll know next week. The dealership has sold through their allotment from Chevrolet. They'll find out next week if they can add mine (and 10 other pre-orders) to the build schedule. If they can't build it in 60 days, I'll delay delivery until Springtime.

Thanks Kurt-I'm really anxious to drive it.
The one I sat in couldn't be driven because it was already sold. So I couldn't put any miles on it. But everything I've seen, read and watched says that this car is a true game changer!
I've had a good vibe about this car from the very beginning. I've always had a healthy appreciation for Corvette, but never enough to buy one. This car obviously made a difference to me.
With the Porsche, I've always thought they were a cute little car. The operative words here are "cute" and "little". I'm a visual guy-I want a car that grabs me by the collar and says, "look at me-I'm a HOT ride". I had my doubts about this car until I saw it.
The interior is top notch. I'd put it against any Italian exotic on the market today....honest! Even my wife noticed the leather and the stitching. And she is NOT a car person at all. But when she chose this car over her favorite car (Porsche), that was icing on the cake.
LOL....I keep hearing Anil's voice in my head. It says, "Steven, for the love of God-please get a manual drive car".

After seeing these pictures, the choice is very clear Steven.
The Mustbang 5.0 just got bumped off the list of fun weekend cars too if they don't have a major facelift to make it look identical to the vette. I'm going to end up being a Chevy guy for sure.
Honestly, I'm surprised you went with this because I only counted 2 badges on the car. Is there some sort of badge package you can add? Will the dealer throw in transfer of your numerous type s badges from the TL to the Vette?!?!
I don't know why I love giving you a hard time about it...I guess it's the only thing to help assuage the envy I have for you getting such a sick sick weekend car. Congrats, man!

I just came across this thread- I think the choice of the Vette is perfect over a 7 year old used Porsche- I do love Porsches, it's just that it may become a maintenance nightmare vs. a new Vette with full warranty. I don't doubt you're going to love it once it's yours.
Congrats Steven!

Today I drove the only C7 Stingray in Kansas City.
Guys,
Today, I was the first person in Kansas City to Test Drive the Z51 Corvette Stingray.
First, the exhaust note is outstanding. I would put it up against any foreign exotic on the street.
Second, after the sales person pulled the car out of the dealership, got us on the highway (at about 115 mph), I drove the Stingray.
Low end torque is fantastic. This ride has the get-up-and-go that will rival the best of the best. It has the power, acceleration and speed that will make you tingle in all the right places!
This first picture is a video. Click on the picture to open up PhotoBucket and see the video as well as hear the exhaust startup.
