A long overdue update.....(11-13-13)...Back to the Type S
#46
You have a few subtle mods that make it different while retaining a clean look, the type s badges over the side markes and the A-Spec decal stand out to me. I kind of dig the decal ,I hardly ever see them here. I wanted to get one but I think it was like $20 to ship, only reason I didn't.

Car's looking good as per usual!
You've been speaking of that upgrade for a while now...
I'm still hoping it's something made nearly entirely out of carbon fiber! =]

Komodo, I've been actually looking to get a new "toy". I've been considering a new C7 Stingray. Dealerships should be getting them any day now. It's either between the Corvette or the Porsche Cayman 7. I've also been considering an older 2007 GT3 too.
I think I'm driving swoosh crazy, but we'll see how this plays out......

Yoks, I've found 2-3 worthy 2007 possibilities. One is in Plano, TX-it's gray with red accents. The other one is white and just as nice.
I've also found a Carrera 4S that's silver. It's got Vossen wheels on it with a GT3 tail and ground effects kit. But it's an Automatic, so I'm not sure about that one.
I'm holding off to see the new C7 Stingrays. I've always had a healthy appreciation for Corvettes. Just not enough to pull the trigger on one though.....
But when I saw the new ones, I really took notice!
Ask Anil.....I've been debating this call for a LONG time.
By the way, the Type S stays....this will be a weekend fun "toy".

steve the carrera 4S with vossen and ground affects gt3 tail in red accents with auto
is a very worthy car IMO. The new vetts looks awsome... but I think they don't hold up
well compared the the porsche.

The maintenance on the C7 would be considerably less than Porsches. Something to consider....
Side note: with your mild drop and spacers, are your fenders stock or did you have to roll them? TIA

I actually wrote to the dealership today, Anil. I asked them about the IMS bearing. He also said that the GT3 engine is a different configuration, so no issues.
Anil, that Carrera 4S had Tiptronic-I'm not sure, but I don't think that's PDK. That 4S is $14,000 cheaper too.
I'm hoping that the Chevy dealership gets in the C7's sometime next week. I just want to see one, drive one and feel it for myself.
Maintenance costs will have a lot to do with the decision. Plus, the Porsche will be a 7 year old car that costs more than a fully loaded Corvette.
This is a tough call......

Gt3 is an exotic....C7 is a 50K car....
you are only going to get 1 car so why not an exotic....
GT3 is old and no warranty, but I would definitely consider it....
2007-2008 GT3 > loaded C7 > 2013 Carrera 4 (only because its getting $$$$) > Cayman S (which is again going way above the budget when you load it up)
and the GT3 is marginally more than what you are paying for the C7....and since the C7 will be very limited for the first few months, I am thinking you will be paying a tad bit more for it....

Guys, here is my dilemma......
--2014 Corvette vs. 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 (this car is 7 years old)
--Price will be about the same for both
--Is the Corvette an "exotic"? Is the GT3 an "exotic"?
--Maintenance on a new car vs. a 7 year old car.
What is your opinion?

I would personally go with the Vette. I say this mainly based on.....
1. Maintenance costs(We all know it's not cheap to maintain a Porsche)
2. The cost of mods(Chevrolet LT/LS engines are very responsive to mods and the cost for parts is signifigantly less than they would be for a Porsche)
I'm not sure if you plan on modding or just enjoying as-is but there is my

You already know which I would pick
If you were going to ditch the TL and daily drive the new sports car, I would pick the Vette. BUT since the TL isn't going anywhere, get a Porsche. GT3, GTS, any of them will do

Steven this will clear up your confusion:
55 year old driving a C7 Vette acting all cool....
55 year old driving a GT3
55 year old buys the GT3 for a certain 29 year old, now that shit is cool....when should i see the GT3 in my driveway?
