Kaiii's '07 CBP Type-S Progress Thread
Car looks awesome Kaiii! Spacers will definitely add to the look, the Akatas on ebay are only about $75 a set, and I've never had an issue with mine.
By the way...what method did you use to install the brembo covers?

I am considering going with the Akata spacers, but still debating if I want 15mm front / 20mm rear, or 20mm for all 4. Also, I'm thinking that even with the stock 17" wheels I may need to roll fenders. I called a local shop to get an estimate and they told me it would be $75 per CORNER. (that's $300 total...much more than I expected). I don't trust myself with doing this myself so this puts me in a bit of a bind.
Do you guys think I'd need to roll the fronts if I have 15mm spacers on the front? In the mean time, I'll be looking for a shop around me that can do the fenders for a more reasonable price...
Edit: Stupid questions, but do I need to roll fenders after installing spacers (so I know how much to roll) or beforehand? Also, I DO probably need to roll fenders if I want 15mm/20mm spacers right (esp. the rears)? Like it'll rub for sure?

Woah! $75 a corner?!
That's insane. Try finding a local shop that works on a lot of imports and such.
As for rolling, really depends on how low you are.
Refer to Predatorbird's post on the previous page.

Yeah its so pricey
, I'll keep looking around
I'm referencing Adam's setup as an example but part of me is hoping I can get away with as little rolling, etc as possible since I have stock 17s instead of 18" Aspecs haha. Looks like it's inevitable though

Kaiii - I'm getting ready to purchase my Tein SA setup. Question, did you use your existing Type S top hats? Healtoe has the option of base tophats and TLS tophats. I don't want to use existing as I want the set delivered complete, but I'm not sure what the difference between base and type s hats are? Actually I guess anyone can answer this. What's the preferred Tein SA setup for a Type S (base or type s tophats)?
EATSLEEPRACE ordered Base top hats because he said they were softer, I'm not sure if that's really true or not.
I ordered base top hats because I have a base (but I ordered OEM parts, not through Heeltoe) and fully assembled the coil with new parts.
It makes the install a little easier because you don't have to take apart your OEM suspension to rob it for parts.
Just depends though, if you'd rather save some money, reuse your parts. My top hats still looked okay with 90~k miles.

Austin is correcto. I just reused my current TL-S top hats, which looked to be in great condition at 80k- everything worked out perfectly for me.
Of course as mentioned it's easier to order new ones so you don't need to disassemble the oem ones, however I hardly think that dropping a couple hundred dollars to cut out about twenty minutes of work is worth it. If your top hats look OK, reuse them

Trying to find a time to install the V2 and spacers soon - either a J-Pipe or wheels might come later this year

zoostation, I have the ISC N1 coils and I cudnt be happier...
am not sure on the price on them currently, but they come preassembled with top hats/etc...
also I dont think Tein utilizes the right way of lowering the car...as you lower the car on Tein, it makes the spring travel more and hence a mushier ride....where as in ISC, the preload is preset....you dont mess with the spring to lower the car, you rotate the threaded body in the shock body....
with that said, I had tein on my car for about 80-85K miles and I cudnt be happier...they rode well....but recently I swapped out to ISC N1's and the ride quality was instantly different....the car feels more planted, since the spring preload is not touched, you can see the difference when you go between dampening setups...also when you lower the car for summer and raise her back up for winter, you dont miss the ride quality (in the summer)....
I just drove my car last night after a week or so and how I miss driving her

I bought my coils from Heeltoe and the other OEM parts from my local dealership. (I work at a dealer so we get a discount when I put it under the work's name.)
Otherwise, look at oemacuraparts.com

^ or that yeah
I do hear great things about the ISC's as well! If I was able to slam the car I'd probably have considered them more. The bay area's already a dangerous place for my car haha
