Oxidation. you know what is it. excessive heat. you know what you could do to slow it down is. use that aluminum duct tape underneath the hood to reflect the engin heat back down and away from the hood. another thing you can do is keep polishing it to protect it from the sun.

BUT, since its alredy oxidated. id say try sand it down with about 1500-2000 grit sand paper and buff it out. if no luck with that your going to have to reclear the entire hood.

though the end hood color may look remarkably like that found on the rest of my car a few minutes ago!

I just can't get into CF hoods on TL's. But, if you're a fan of it, more power to you.

not bad, but its hard to tell how it flows with the rest of the car with the close-up pics and all the blur. take her outside and get some full body pics.

i really like the painted grill though

this hood has never been on my car before 5 minutes before the pics...i havnt got a chance to take it out side for pics but i will today...its never been painted so my "painter dosent suck" BY THE WAY,im a painter,and when it DOES get painted,THIS WEEKEND i will post pics probly sunday or monday at latest,most likely teasers sunday afternoon.

thanks for the help. further inspection looks to me as if this hood IS dry carbon. (which i hear is stronger and lighter) and that explains why when i picked it up i was like wtf why is everyone saying theirs is only 20 lbs lighter? or maybe its just me i duno.

Does the hood have that middle seam? That sharp edge has always stood out in my mind as part of what gives the hood such a sporty look. If it's the the CF really subdues that body line.

and what's with the "wrinkles" near the end of front?

Is that VIS quality?

I want a CF hood too, not sure I want that one though.

im not sure i see the wrinkles u are talkin bout kennedy..but like i stated before,this weekend its getting painted...and i will be blocking it nice shiney and flat before i paint it. as far as the middle crease..i actually didnt notice it not being there till u mentioned it,its there,but not as noticeable as stock...im not sure,i really didnt notice it..

You going to align it all? In this pix the gap looks different between hood and fenders .. looks like the pass. side fender needs to come over or something .. that would narrow the gap and line the tip of the fender up with the top corner of the headlight.

yea, plus like i told the other guys.. you might want to lower your latch a little bit. looks like the hood is sitting 2-3 mm higher then the fenders... its easy to lower the latch. there are three bolts in it.. loosen them, push the latch down, and tighten them.. i did it while my bumper was off, so it was real easy. michealbenz said you can do it with the bumper still on the car....
