So anyone whose been around these parts for an extended period of time simply cannot claim their boots to be well worn if you've not come across Inaccuarte's work in resolving heat soak issues once or twice, so it's only suitable I play the lamb and follow in his footsteps. After completing the TB bypass, which is just beyond simple, it was only time to perform the nessecary steps of installing the TB and IM spacers, and to throw the MDX spacer in good faith as well.

Here we are, with DM serving every bit the surgeon and digging in!

...and the MDX spacer, in all of its protruded glory.

A good portion of time was spent cleaning and scrubbing the IM, and why not - I hope to never have this off again, and after a good hour spent with some Seafoam Deep Creep, we've cleaned the IM, TB, and have paid particular attention to the EGR port.

After performing a vertiable 'tug-of-war' with a number of cables and hoses, everything was reconnected and the FSB was treated to some 5mm washers to allow for proper reconnect. Don't mind the discoloration of the thermal gaskets, it's just a bit of gasket overspray.

At this point in time, we took a deep breath, and PRAYED for the absence of CEL, whine, choke, or other variant of audible nuance that could be associated with work of this nature. Lo, there was none. What a relief.

Finally, it was time for the final work, which was cutting of the hood bracing, for which we donned the engine bay with only the finest paint cloths.

And the final picture. While I can shut my hood with no detectable interference, there's a slight TAP when I'm driving...ehhhh, but we';ll adress that later, I'm too many sheets to the wind to care about anything other than the fact that I've not adversely affected functionality!

^^^ain't that the truth...props to swoosh too for setting me up with a forum member for the spc front cambet kit. Went in beautifully this weekend.

Dan, nicely done...great looking install. How did you determine where to cut...was thinking you could put peanut butter on your intake cover and close the hood and cut everywhere there was peanut butter. Then, grab some bread and clean it up...

Notice a big difference with the MDX spacer? Did you have to use washers and raise the back of the hood?

Simply took the lead from some other members and did as they did.

I absolutely REFUSE to raise the hood, it simply looks atrocious. I did raise the FSB using 5mm washer...I might bump that up a bit. No feedback yet, I'll have some more info on the mod come tomorrow evening

Strangley enough, the hood shut fine with 0 modification to the hood strut brackets or latch...

^^^ yes, once you cut the hood everything fits fine....I thought by raising my FSB I would have problems closing my hood, i was wrong

things are pretty tight under my hood...the 2 P2R spacers along with the Innovative mounts (they sit a tad bit higher) are making life tough "vertically"....

and the moores performance throttle body spacer with the 2 P2R spacers are making things tight "horizontally"....

its jam packed in there LOL....

ALSO in for the review....Dan, I think you gonna love gears 1 thro 3

No kidding...even without the MDX, I had a hard time shoving the oem intake back onto the throttle body...

Nicely done, man...always great to read your updates.

I have my own mod?!? I'm TOUCHED and HONORED all at once!

Looking forward to your take on it...
why not simplify and just cut all they way thru the hood and get some REAL cooling in that engine bay! ha ha...

PS...I agree...if you had to raise the hood, I'd make you sell the MDX spacer...I HATE how unclean it looks. BUT, kudos on making it work without the need.

u guys are FORCING me to cut my hood

J, make the UCM look very classy....but in order to get a lot more air hence cooling you will need to cut the full area and put a mesh under it....so this will look nice and will provide you a lot of cooling.....

Sure why not...then we'll be able to compare...but you BETTER not improve it to the point where I have to redo mine.

started off with 2 but ended with 3...also, a suggestion...sand before painting black. I didn't and the paint on the last one I added (passenger side) must be seeing most of the heat cause that's the one that lost the paint.

Dan, did you find the grills?

and here is the grill...

I too have a strange tongue on tb fetish...
I am not sure...the INTAKE gets warm but I honestly feel like the TB stays very cool...definitely enough to keep my hand on...let alone my tongue and/or my junk.

Yeah, I put in 3 vents but only used 2 of them...3 halves for the front and one half for the rear engine side.

^^^ you know you want a piece of UCM SB....admit it buddy LOL...

@Rocky: the TB staying cool is practically all that matters....the intake is hot coz there is not much circulation in there and the intake is practically sucking up warm air (due to the tranny)....
