You guys are a bunch of clowns. Dan got me good with that text message, as you can see I totally fell for it.
I'm not sure how else to put this but I found out yesterday that my grandmother has breast cancer. Her health has steadily declining over the last year or two and this is the last thing that she needed. She's the first member on both sides of my family to ever be diagnosed with cancer which is a blessing and a curse at the same time.
I could barely sleep last night because it's all I could think about. I just saw her in December when Mitzi and I made a trip but I'm hoping I can see her again during Fall Break in October. She's in Naples, FL and it sucks being so far away from her and everyone else in my family.
I've been pretty down today but couldn't really show it since Mitzi and I helped a good friend of hers move into her new apartment. I had good time with them but as soon as I got back home and had some alone time, I just want to crawl into bed and never get out

Sorry to hear tyler, went thru the same thing last year. Grandfather passed away after a fight with cancer. He's the first person in my family that's passed since I was born. Since then I've done 3 cancer walks with my brothers. You got my number if you need anything man

Thanks Dan I appreciate that man.
I lost my grandfather on my dad's side of MS when I was 7. I was young but he and I had an awesome relationship. He called me Ty-Ty
Since then no one else has had any serious health problems (knocks on wood) and this is a low blow. For the most part my family is older and for someone who is already 84 years old and already in a wheelchair, she really didn't need this.

Same here. My moms mom is in here 80's and both of my dads parents are in their 80's also. My family has been lucky but I know it probably won't be a good few years coming up for me.

It's a shitty feeling. It's even worse for me because they are so far away and school is about to start.

Damn that's nuts.
Shit like this really puts everything in your life into perspective. Makes modding a car and shit look pointless.

I hate how AZ is censoring my words. Last time I checked we are entitled to freedom of speech. Plus I don't remember agreeing to that in the terms of service when I signed up for the site.

And ironically, your fuck didn't get censored ... better for me at work anyway. First major loss for me was. A friend in middle school...her head was hanging out of the bus and the bus driver didn't see her and pulled forward and hit a pole. Then...kid in high school shot himself. In senior year my close frond died in a car accident and my Swiss grandfather dropped dead while walking the dog. I was very close to him...that was a rough year. Ive lost others since and it never gets easier...now,I just hang onto the memories and focus in laughing and hope it all goes down painlessly.

Really sorry to hear, Tyler. I've lost a lot of people to cancer as well. Will be praying for your grandmother in the coming months.

Thanks everyone for your support. It seems like most of you have witnessed and experienced more pain and loss than I have but even this little speed bump in my life is tearing me apart.
I talked with my mom this morning and she said she will be returning to Florida within the next few months to check on her mom. I'm hoping she will go during fall break so I can go with her. If I don't make it then, without a doubt I'll be going during Christmas break. It's so far away though
Everyone is being very supportive and I truly appreciate it.

Truly sorry about the news Tyler. Both of my grandparents passed away after long battles with cancer, so I understand what you are going through. It was really hard on me because I was so young and I didn't understand the concept that my grandparents died from being sick even though they looked fine, but it's just too common and happens to the best of people
Luckily, Florida has some of the best cancer treatment centers in the country, and your grandmother will surly be in good hands with all of the cancer centers in her surrounding area.
Keep us updated, but I will be sure to keep her in my prayers!

Tyler, I'm really sorry to hear about your Grandmother.
Right after Rhonda and I got married on Superbowl Sunday, we found out that she had breast cancer. Luckily, she was at Stage 0, but she endured not one but two breast cancer operations within a period of one week! After 6 weeks of radiation, she is getting on with her life.
My younger brother is a 3 time cancer survivor of Non-Hodgeskins Lymphoma. He has had 2 full stem-cell transplants! He goes in Friday for his 3 year check-up, which is a big deal.
I know this doesn't help your family's situation-just know you're not alone.

Thanks Austin! She has an awesome personality and I'm sure she will pull through just fine
It was JUST found so I'm hoping it can be a quick and simple fix. Sadly in the world of medicine that isn't always guaranteed but I'm hoping for the best
I'm trying to be positive but it's hard. I fell asleep around 11:30 and I woke up at 4:40 wide awake and all I could think about was this whole situation.

Tyler....bro, will definitely have your Granny in my prayers bro....
I lost my grandpa and grandma (father's side)....Grandpa passed away when I was only a year old....i only hear stories of how he used to wake every body up (joint family) if i cried in the middle of the night....He passed away due to a stroke....
Grandma, passed away 2 years back....he lungs failed on her....she lived a very healthy 82 years....all i can say is, when it comes to your family, its never too old....ya know....
Aunt (mom's sister) was diagnosed with Uterus Cancer and they had to remove her womb and she will never be able to have a kid....Aunt was only 32 at that point....she went thro kemo and lost a ton of weight and hair....but she survived that....she has been healthy by the grace of GOD since the past 10-12 years....
Brother, just focus on the positive....keep ya chin up.....we are all here for ya....

Relaxing and trying to be positive is a lot easier said than done, sadly.
But it's great that it was found early, and you have the wonderful world of 2012 medicine on your side, as well as all of our prayers.
I don't know your grandma but I am confident she will power out of this fine.
