Carbon Fiber roof spoiler on Anthracite

OK guys, I did it finally. Initially I thought of getting a plain one and painting it. Good thing I didn't. My bodyshop said painting it with flex additives would end up costing more than I paid for it.

I saw a carbon fiber type on Ebay and thought Hmmm. That should go great on Anthracite....and then I see someone who actually tried it. I give credit to sT04Louis for pioneering this and making me go ahead with it. I realize not everyone is going to like this, but some of us do. I definitely need that A-Spec kit, tint and drop now!!

True, I see your point. I did think maybe it would look better with the wing spoiler. I am banking that with a bodykit it will come together and look better....or maybe I'll get sick of it and fling it, we'll see how it goes.

I'm only going to say that I don't like it so you can fling it, and I'll take it from you .....I have the wing spoiler....

Seriously, I kinda like the lip up on the back window......especially in CF....props to you buddy

I love the A-Spec rims also

Yeah I know others like you did the unpainted spoiler first (I did thorough research by searching the threads.) You guys have the original idea of course. Credit definitely due there! When I searched Ebay I saw a CF one and thought it might look stupid anywhere else, but might actually work on this application. And then someone actually did it. To clarify, I meant to give sT04Louis the credit for doing the CF one. Unless someone else has done it too and never posted a thread, I don't know.

now a real CF lip spoiler up there would be BIG PIMPIN!

I'm not huge on CF but that would be delicious!

Thats look very nice. Actually I brought a replica AC schnizter roof spoiler from a 5 series and having that made in to CF and have it custom fitted on to the TL. So hopefully I can share with you in the next few month or so.

But very nice and clean look!

Does it provide functionality or is it purely cosmetic? Are there problems w/ having the roof spoiler and the decklid spoiler? I know VW says not to install a deck spoiler if you have the automatic spoiler that pops out of the roof because it creates lift w/ two spoilers

I moved here to Chicago just for a year....Suprisingly this place has definitely grown on me, it's waay better than I thought it would be. Problem is, I left my heart and soul back in NYC! My friends, my fam. I'll be back in October. NYC to the core, born and bred. Still King!

As for downforce, regardless what people tell you, these tiny things do nothing aerodynamically. Totally aesthetic.

I was going to paint the roof spoiler anthracite, just summed up to be an expensive proposition. Or to have a CF lip spoiler on the trunk to match the roof spoiler just wouldn't look right IMO. I have an OEM replica on the trunklid. It is perfectly made for the TL with all the original contours and looks 99% like OEM. The one on the roof is a generic "M5" lip. So it is of a different design/contour/profile. It would look like crap on the decklid, totally knockoff.

I do agree a wing with a lip is better than 2 lips. I would have gotten a wing initially, my taste is kinda ol skool. Most of my previous cars had wing spoilers. On many other cars it just goes. IMO the lip just belongs on the TL, a wing is just too "90s" for this new generation-looking car.

With 2 spoilers, the more I look at it, the more confused I get. At some angles it looks really good. At other angles it looks hmmmph. We'll see as my other mods come along. Maybe it will grow on me, maybe I'll get disgusted by it. Ahhh the quest to be different!
