Until we figure out what the proper resistors you need are, they'll blow in time. I've been through 2 sets, foot3h been through a few... Rockyfeller tried the smaller 3mm version, they just blew.
I'm done with it. I plan to install 5mm yellow to match my upgraded 5mm rear sides... call it a day
question for ya kennedy, since you know LEDs well
you say we need resistors, why? is it because of the different colors? or are the LEDs different power ratings/wattage etc.etc...
basically what i have been asking is, since the boards already have LEDs in them..why are the addition of resistors neccesary ??

White leds draw less current than yellow.
Without replacing the resistors that are attached to the circuit board, you are overdriving the white leds. Either the white leds blowout or the resistors fail over time.

^^ awesome thread. i just got a slight degree in EE
i was so mad, i read the entire thing from start to finish, and was hoping the 3MM would be the answer... since some members had them for a year or two, but then rockyfeller said his 3MM blew out... wtf ?!? i dont want to get off topic (well, its really not THAT off the topic)
so basically nobody has a definitive answer??
jptl04.. how long have you had those 3MM in, do u drive alot at night ? which LEDs did you buy?

hmmm. OEM resistors? what are the specs on the LEDs you are using? or might you have a a link? i am going to be doing this mod soon once i get my spare set of sidemarkers.. i dont have the patience to be fixing it every 2 months
also, looks like you've got LED blinkers, which ones and how closely do they match to the sidemarkers??
thanks man appreciate it.

but then again let's keep it to the other thread, this one is about CLEARING LIGHTS
If you can't decide whether to black out or clear your lights.....Do BOTH! And get the best of both worlds! Switchbacks in full effect as well.
First attempt. Tried to do something different. Cleared and Blacked out with gunmetal bezel and strip

Second attempt. Wanted the original look of contrast so I used chrome paint to the bezel and strip and added angel-eyes

I cleared my 02 TL-S headlights and thought it looked hot. Looking at the 3G TL-s with cleared headlights and they look hot and at the same time somewhat cheap. I'm debating whether if i should get my 08-TL-S cleared as well. I paid this guy 150 to do my 02 TL-s. Kind of scared to do them on my own. Heard some guy on this forum over cooked his headlights in the oven and had to buy new set of headlights. Costly~
damn! I got a question, I am doing this mod tommorow hopefully and would like to know after I remove the amber, should I buy silicone or use the previous silicone and just seal it up and throw it back into the oven?
