Just about half that amount. I didn't plan on doing the timing belt because it's no where near the mileage but I was a bit worried about the amount of time that has passed since it was done. Long story short, sometime in 2008 or 2009 my TL suffered a wrist pin failure. Acura did a 50/50 goodwill repair and replaced the short block. I paid extra for a new timing belt, clutch and flywheel since it was all taken apart. The mileage at the time was around 51K. Now im at 99K. So I figured about 14 years without it being touched is enough reason to have it done again for peace of mind. I visited one of the Acura dealerships I worked for to pick up the parts. The parts manager was like "You sure you want to spend this much on a 2004 TL?! I" laughed and said "Who knows.. it might all be worth it one day when I sell it". It's foolish to use aftermarket timing belt parts. As clean and pristine as my TL is, I wouldn't have it any other way if it wasn't OEM parts.
Yes indeed! Now time to get them on and have new material to post.

Timing belt stuff was "technically" on back order. They sold me a complete kit that was to be used on a customers vehicle which was in the body shop. It's waiting for parts which are on back order.

Thank brotha! Hope all is well.
Back then is when I actually drove the TL. I was WILD back then. That was taken at an Acurazine meet on Long island. I drove into the concrete jungle to attend.
Yeah right?!! what kills me, is that THEY KNOW MY TL. FFS, I worked at the same dealership
I told him "Just last year I bought a brand new headliner and you said the same thing.. surprised?!"
Well as a side note,
While swapping wheels on my M40i yesterday, I let my TL get some sun and run a bit. I want to do a few things to it today but it's on and off with the rain.. can't catch a damn break.

Indeed! Thanks for asking. Hope you and your family are as well! I'm just working trying to figure out a legal and moral way of getting $2mil so I can stop working at the dealership. Lol

Fun fact,
An ex co-worker of mine was taking a customers vehicle out of the service center (in reverse), as he just got past the automatic door, the valet hauling ass with another customer vehicle T-boned him. He fractured his back and needed his spine to be "welded". Needless to say, he's no longer a technician and was paid generously.. I see him every so often when I'm out for a run (he lives one town over) and he still suffers from pain. I feel for him. He's a close friend and a fellow Greek. He was an ASE master certified tech as I was. Though we both don't miss working in the automotive industry. My wife is still dealing with pain from her accident back in Dec 2019. I hired an attorney to go after the trucking company as I knew she would suffer from long term pain. Covid has delayed everything and we are still in the legal process. We aren't retiring and it's not about the money, it's about the long term care my wife now needs.

We are doing the best we can. Lost a family member recently. It's never easy. Thank you for asking.

Yeah. Accidents are never a good thing man. The pain that comes after, especially for serious accidents, no amount of money can fix that. I hope your wife gets better man. The lawsuit thing is such a hassle!

Started working on the TL a little bit today after finishing service calls. I decided to knock a few things off the list
-oil change
-cabin filter
-belt
-belt tensioner
-transmission upper mount
-pcv valve
-drivers door weather seal
-under hood liner with new clips
- clean up the engine bay
-touch up paint the door trim that was missing black paint.
I realized that acura never sent me the Inner body seal for the drivers side. I called them and they said it's discounted.. I made an attempt to glue the small portion that has a rip. Its about an inch tear. Seems to have worked for now.
The car is seriously dusty and dirty. It's been sitting since last years photo shoot and it needs a full top to bottom cleaning.
I wasn't too thrilled with the condition if the oil. It seemed awfully dark for one year and less than 300 miles of use. I kept a sample to send out to have the oil inspected..
I ended up using a Bosch filter which was higher quality vs the Mobil 1 filter. Luckily the new belt was the correct one. The tensioner bottom bolt was not willing to come off easily.. I was able to get it loose from under the car.
With the supercharger shaft in the way. The pcv valve was a bit harder to replace but nothing crazy. Wifey helped clean up the engine bay as I did the cabin filter and door seal. Depending on my schedule, I plan on swapping the wheels and doing a through cleaning.
Im hoping a long drive will knock the rust off the rotors. Next week it's off to get the timing belt replaced. That should bring it up to speed with maintenance. The private shop that will do the state inspection (in the summer) I'll have them do a brake flush.
as per wifey rules, I'll need to drive it and attend one show this year.

Nice updates!
Hard to tell from the photo but you arent missing the pcv valve collar are you? I'm only asking because the side by side with new comparison doesn't show it and I almost lost mine when I changed it last week.

thank you for the kind words. It came off with the 10mm bolt. I thought it looked odd as I don't remember the bolt looking like it had a sleeve to it.. needless to say, it was with it. Everything on my TL hasn't been touched in a very long time. Last time I replaced the pcv valve was when I did had the valve covers powder coated. That was at least 4 to 5 years ago.

I forgot to upload these. This was the original supercharger belt. It had some cracks and a few spots where the belt was missing teeth. I wasn't sure if the new belt was the correct size even though I verified the belt numbers from the actual belt and from comptechs part list. At some point I'll need to source out one pulley for the supercharger. It had a little bit of play in it but fine for now.

Fuck yes.
I need to do tensioner and a bearing but then again I have a MUCH longer list.
Been buying myself time by topping shit off. Engine is smooth as a sewing machine, still.

YES! that's the truth for sure!
What a difference a new belt w/tensioner makes. It's quieter now. I was able to source the supercharger idler pulley (Thanks to a supercharged TL on YouTube). When it comes on Friday, I'll install it. That's the last piece of the puzzle for everything on the drive belt. I'm curious to see the condition of the timing belt. it's 14 years old with about 55K miles... Well J, as my wife says, one day at a time. The difference is, I'm throwing money into a vehicle that's barely used, while you're throwing money into a vehicle you daily.

1 of 6 I daily...which makes it just as retarded.
Plus, with your heritage and tracking of maintenance you'll get what you want for it.

I personally own 3 vehicles and I barely use 2 out of 3. My wife works remote, so she barely uses the M40i. My other X3 is our daily / my work horse.
Biggest issue I have with my 2018 base X3, I use it anywhere in NJ and sometimes out of state. I recently took it to Massachusetts (I didn't have enough time to rent a vehicle), on our drive up we pulled into a rest stop. I parked in the Truck section because the car section was packed. After using the bathroom and heading back to the BMW, I noticed someone swiped the front corner. A hit and run with all the other truckers there being fucking oblivious. My dash cam didn't pick it up as it wasn't a hard hit to activate park mode. Well, I had BMW paint the front bumper, paint correct / ceramic coat, pull two dings out and clear wrap the bumper / half of the hood. A whopping $2,800.00 later, the BMW looked beautiful.
Went to do a service call in south NJ and I heard a loud noise while driving on the parkway. I thought maybe something kicked up (like a rock) and hit the panels under the vehicle. I get out and on my passenger fender something hit it hard enough to dig into the aluminum and left two small craters.. I filled it in with touch up paint and will attempt to lightly buff it to make it look a bit better. Can't have anything nice. I couldn't own soo many damn vehicles with the level of OCD I have. I'd be broke trying to keep everything in show room condition.

After 19 years, the one on my 2G kit is still functional.
This Dayco 89017 Tensioner & Idler Pulley would probably suffice; however, one would have to double check its dimensions 3.2 x 1.2 x 3.6 inches to the CT-E part.

I just replaced the idler pulley today and it was certainly bad. The belt was also missing a few teeth. I don't know what to tell you other than I'm glad you had better luck.

It's been an eventful day with the TL. I replaced the supercharger Idler Pulley. It was shot.. no more noise or wobble from the Pulley. I decided to take off the front bumper and clean the mess of what I did as a 24 year old idiot. I removed the hid harness, ballast, ignitors and bulbs. Cleaned up the wiring harness. Installed Sylvania fog light bulbs. Cleaned up the connectors. Installed a new in-line fuse (old one has corrosion and caused an electrical draw). Installed a new intake filter. The old filter had deteriorated... a quick wipe down before covering it.
The biggest mother fukkkkkkker moment was when the power steering fluid started to over flow and started to run down the frame rail on to the pavors. Air was getting in the system from the power steering pump hose that runs to the res. Cut a small part of the hose that had developed a crack and installed a new oem clamp. Spent an hour trying to clean up power steering fluid from the frame rail and my pavors..
Not much left other than the timing belt job, swap wheels and use up all the gas in the tank.

Thanks to FB memories. 10 years ago, was the last time my TL was at my parents house. I was planning on taking my TL to their house for Orthodox Easter, however, my wife's family are coming along with us to experience Greek Easter. So BMW it is..

Shocked that they still worked! One ballast had a production date of 7-14-07. There's something to be said about keeping things clean and simple Those HID craze days are long gone.

I wonder if the Mcculloch kit in my RSX is still working
Seriously though it feels SO good to pull old janky work out.
I almost burned my old TL to the ground because of the wiring to my DRL module.
Now I only install necessary shit...
PS...LED H11 and H8 bulbs from Amazon are bright as shit and plug and play. They match the
low beam hid pretty well too.

They look like they match pretty well...
good job!
Yeah, my inspire fogs I just put in are an ebay harness and relay...let's see how long that'll go.
I did wire up an oem older mdx switch to control them though...

I'm sure the ebay setup is fine, as most use the aftermarket setup vs the oem accord setup.

Wifey and I had dinner plans with a group of friends. I got home around 3 pm yesterday and spent about an hour working on the TL. I used Ficatech supercharged ceramic booster on the coating to refresh it. Conditioned the interior. Noticed one door panel the center part of the leather was coming apart in the center. Eventually I'll address it but it's not noticeable unless you run your hand over it and find the spot it's lifting from. Snapped a few photos and off I went. I'm still set for the TL to go to Paul on Thursday for the timing belt. I have a lot of work being done at my house this week, so the driveway must be empty.

Yeah I was gonna say, Anil is still going strong...just not active on here.
I guess technically I am too, just with a different car now.
14 years old? Try 18 years old! Shit...12 more and we get Florida
Antique plate!
Love your garage, Gus...mainly because you know, it's a garage and mine won't fit a car.
Should have taken the TL out to dinner! I drove mine today...I drive it most days. Added dye
and freon to mine last night...she cold as hell right now.

Thanks J! I wish it was my garage. It's my friends parents home. They are rarely around anymore. They tell me to leave my TL in their garage but I don't feel right about it. I offered to pay them, but that back fired as they got offended. I check on their home often while they are away. It would be nice to have a garage, but that will come with our next home. I'll be heading to Clifton with the TL in the next hour or so. It's the 1st official drive of the year... Sounds pathetic.. Hopefully you don't have a big issue with the AC. FL without AC, isn't something that goes together. Hope all is well my friend. Hope the family is doing well!
