I decided to take the TL to the dent guy I've always used to have some very minor dings removed. While at his spot under special lighting, the paint looked terrible. Seems like my car cover had swirled up my paint and it looked terrible.. like really terrible.. needless to say, I'm about 2k out of pocket for a dings repairs, paint correction and ceramic coating. I had him remove a very small ding out of my X3 M40i. So I think its safe to say my TL costs me more money per year as a paper weight vs my daily driven german mobiles. I ordered new covers for the TL and M40i to minimize future swirls.
$2k for paint repair/correction/coating on an entire car? That sounds like a really good deal actually.
A recent vid from savagegeese on correcting his S2k's entire car came out to something like $10k for everything.....

It's about $1,200 more in total with the dings removed. It's way more than I was willing to pay to be honest with you. My 1st paint correction with coating was about $1,250.00 done by a highly reputable shop. Their schedule has a wait period of 2 months. I had that same reputable shop do my M40i and it was about $200 more due to it being an SUV. As for SavageGeese, he also had protective film applied if not mistaken. Full paint correction, full film and coating for 10K is actually a great deal. I had two shops quote me 3K just for the front end of my M40i. This is the last time the TL will get a correction with coating. If it was at the 20 year old mark, I would list it on cars and bids
I'd buy an NSX if it was around 100K mark. Anything higher isn't not worth it to me.
Back in late 2017 and early 2018 I was offered $150k OTD for a track package NC1 at the local Acura dealer, after initial test drive it was bland. Fast? yes hella fast in straight line (or at least it was faster than the 2017 GTR I been in) but the driving feels is not there.

I don't blame you for feeling that way, Gus. She looks great but it's nuts to keep spending that sort of money on perfection.
lol we all spend money on shit boxes.... This is why they call "enthusiast" or me being an idiots

You can have three elements at working on a car. Cheap, Fast, Good workmanship unfortunately you can have only 2 out of 3 so pick your poison lol.
My TL is back home and looks incredible! Paint looks sooo fucking flawless. No more dings either. It's nearly flawless! Hopefully I'll have some time tomorrow to finish the interior and under the hood. They coated the entire car including wheels, calipers and exhaust tips. It's sooo beautiful and to protect the work, I got a new car cover.
My wife would move to FL in a heart beat. I don't want to live closer to my mother in law. Hard pass. BTW, if you want the old leather seats, ill just ship them out to you. No need for me to hoard up parts which will never be used.
Yeah, but where in Florida, though? Unless your MIL lives in Jax, then, well, you're golden. Thank about it! Letting all the people down here see that shiny bastard! Don't be rude, Gus! Think about other people for once! Share the love! Enjoy the vitamin D and no rust or winters!
If you are looking for long term garage, lmk. A phone call and I could have enclose trailer bring it down here right next to the KBP
all BS aside that thing looks it just left the showroom floor.
I see what you did there! Don't worry new pictures coming..

Insane.
In the end though, it's the missing piece of the puzzle anyway. Everything
else on that car is flawless so you can't really stop there. Nicely done!
Yeah brotha I agree and honestly, they did a way better job than the 1st shop. I have SLR photos coming.

which ceramic coating did they use for the wheels, calipers, and exhaust?
Thank you! I sent the guy a message. It wasn't ceramic pro. We were both against it. He used something else that was one of the best products. Honestly, seeing my TL in the sunlight today, the car looked sooo fucking good!

I'll be over your place working on your TL all the time. You might get sick of seeing me! Then I'll go visit J every other day
The NO WINTERS statement is sooo fucking tempting. I hate this bullshit here on top of the highest taxes paid in the country.
What a good looking car.
If those are SLR we deserve a different backdrop.
Actually, your car would POP on brick...any old buildings or gas station rears that are made of old brick?
It'll photograph very well

I wish I had time to drive somewhere but I was limited. Just snapped a few in my driveway and covered the TL. Next time
Gus, how did you get the leather smoothed out on the bolsters on the front seats? I have tried using a steam heater, hair dryer, sunshine, etc. to get mine smooth, to no avail. It's very frustrating. My leather is from Auto Customer Leathers, and it's thicker than the normal OEM leather.

A few things.
The trick was, using a second set of hands while moving the foam and leather tightly together and using Zip ties over hog rings.
My kit was also thicker than the OEM garbage. It was indeed a harder than expected install (with my OCD being OCD). I didn't use any heat gun, just a lot of pulling and tugging around. zip ties make things way easier and pulls the leather in way better.
I may have to try that. Mine is rather wrinkly along the exterior bolsters, and it's annoying.
If I lived closer, I'd help you. If anyone is willing to give you a hand, it will make a difference. It's hard for one person to work the leather over those bolsters while trying to secure the leather to the frame. Zip ties will make the biggest difference.
I custom ordered a new leather E-Brake boot from redlinegoods, I made an mistake on the color options as I wanted black on the outside with the single gray stripe. Needless to say, I wasn't in love with it.. at all.. I'll be ordering another custom one from leatherseats.com.
Just an FYI, I didn't install the boot the correct way. I quickly pulled it over and tucked in one side just to see how it would look before taking apart the unit to install the boot correctly.
