Not sure if you know, but a couple questions-

The VS-XX wheels- you had them powder coated, didn't you? The wheels look to be a more yellowish gold then the normal, uh... gold gold. Am I right?

What are the torque specs for the bolts on the wheels? I couldn't find anything on the Work website.

Is there a certain method to retorquing the bolts? Do you just go in order one after the other, or do you go opposite ends, kind of like retorquing a 5 lug wheel?

How wide are your wheels?

What size tires are on them?

send him a deposit already, fool...
you torque the bolts in a star pattern...to 69 feet pound
he had them powdercoated "sunny side scrotum" from prismatic powders.

Two years ago I had a professional shop powder coat them. They took apart the wheels, applied a base coat and the finish coat which is candy gold pearl. They assembled the wheels and applied sealer as you should for 3 piece wheels. Total cost was $1,000

What are the torque specs for the bolts on the wheels? I couldn't find anything on the Work website.

When I ordered the correct wheel lugs back in late 2009, they told me to follow the factory torque spec.

Is there a certain method to retorquing the bolts? Do you just go in order one after the other, or do you go opposite ends, kind of like retorquing a 5 lug wheel?

I follow the same way I always have put on wheels. Star pattern and double check them one by one right after.

How wide are your wheels?

I had to dig back to 2009 when I bought them to see what size they are. Keep in mind, the front lips are bigger than the original setup. The current sizes are Front: 19x9 +34 Hi-disk (clears BBK) Rear: 19x9 +36 Low-disk (maximum lip)

What size tires are on them?

Off the top of my head, 235 / 40 / 19
All questions answered.

I've never touched them and there should be no reason to touch them unless you're taking them apart. They are assembled by WORK or by a wheel shop. They apply red thread lock on the bolts, or at least that's what the wheel shop used when they assembled my wheels.

A small update,

I've been going back and forth with Phil at Detailers Domain. Phil and Kevin did a paint correction with the Nanolex S3id HD coating. They were awesome to give me the HD upgrade. The swirls are nearly all gone and the paint looks fantastic. Over the last 13 years of ownership, I've done my very keep to keep the paint looking incredible. Now I have a little bit of peace of mind knowing the paint if coated and the original paint will last longer. I also picked up a few items from them to keep up with the coating. It's a bit of a learning curve for me since i'm use to detailing a certain way for as long as I have. Normally, this isn't the type of vehicle Detailers Domain will do. It's not exactly a high performance exotic or picture worthy posts, but it's not something you see everyday either. There might be a ton of 3rd gens on the road, but not many around that are well kept and have the investments I've made. I plan on taking the TL out tomorrow morning for some better shots. I took these when I picked up the car. The day was pretty crappy out (about to rain and overcast) and my main focus was getting my car home and covered before the rain started. A huge thank you to Kevin and Phil over at detailers domain for their service!

Thanks man! Look into a paint correction with any type of coating. A lot of professional detailing shops are offering some sort of coating, so check out and see what the cost is. It's worth it in the long run.

I thought it was! I was almost positive it was your old TL.
As Flip mentioned your car list, I think it's time to venture into the AMG world

A small update, something i've been waiting to do for a long time... The LED's in my TL are about 5 - 6 years old. Some of the LED's were flickering, while others were dim... so time for an upgrade. Very pleased with the Philips X-treme Ultinon 194 LED bulbs. They are incredibly bright for a single LED bulb. I did the entire interior and truck light. For the license plate lights, I got new LED lights with the housings as a unit. These are also stupid bright compared to my old setup. A nice little upgrade in lighting, another thing knocked off the bucket list. I laid a strip of painters tape down on the licence plate assembly to protect that freshly coated paint. Surprised the license plate bolts came out like butter! Anti-seize FTW.

Well, it's that unfortunate time of year again, time to swap out wheels! Good bye WORK's and hello A-specs! I reinstalled the wheel spacers back on and the very typical look over everything suspension wise, brake wise and check for any leaks ect. Everything was tight and no leaks. It looks like the surface rust on the rotors aren't going away any time soon, so in the spring ill be doing pads and rotors all around. I waxed the calipers (Yes, I do wax them) before I swapped the wheels. I took a few shots out in the sun before driving back into my driveway and covering the car. I cleaned up the A-specs and just need to check the tire pressures sometime this weekend. If i'm not working this weekend and the weather is perfect, ill take it out for a spin and make sure the wheels are balanced and the car rides alright. Here are some wonderful Samsung Galaxy S8 Active cell phone pics.

Took the TL out early morning for a quick spin before heading off to the job site. Interesting thing happened.. I went into Whole Foods to pick up a few items I needed, walk out and as I'm walking towards my TL, the guy who was cleaning up garbage from the waterfront walk way was taking pictures of another 3rd gen TL near my car. I noticed shortly after parking he was checking out my TL, I didn't think anything of it, til I came out. I figured he was comparing the two? or maybe it was his? No idea but I snapped a picture of that TL. I got a few props while taking some pictures from those walking on by. I have yet to use the Nanolex spray that was given to me. It says to allow 2 hours to dry after a wipe down.. Not sure if the car has to be in a garage while this is done? I normally lightly detail spray the car before putting the car cover on. I'll have to do a bit more research before I use it. Last thing I want is to mess up the coating.

The Other TL.

Hell, for 10K he might even throw in his shaft and bearings to seal the deal!

My Acura has been sitting since the last picture I posted here. I wanted to start the TL and let it run a bit while I look over everything, ect. Needless to say, the 2 year old Yellow top battery was DEAD, like dead dead. I couldn't jump the car. I removed the battery and brought it to the store I purchased it from. After a 30 min charge and testing, the battery had failed the test because it had a bad cell. This is my 3rd yellow top to have failed in two years and with a bad cell. From what the department was telling me, that size yellow top is know for having failures at the 2 year mark and mostly all fail from bad cells. I ended up getting the next higher end battery they had there which cost more than the yellow top. Off we go, new battery in, radio and navi codes put it and car purring away. While under the hood doing the swap, I noticed it was time for a polish and quick detail. Being 30 degrees outside, I did my best to clean up everything. I didn't drive the TL, just moved it out of the driveway into the sunlight on the sidewalk. Snapped a few photos and back it went under the cover. The nanolex coating still looks great, though I think at some point I need to apply the spray he gave me. It needs to be on a day where the wind isn't blowing crap around and I can leave the car exposed for two hours. I'm worried about messing something up, so for the time being I have been lightly cleaning it off with water with a bit of detail spray. Here are some of the photos I snapped while my hands were frozen and nose running at full force.
