XLR8 Motor Mounts

All I have to say is wow! These mounts are awesome. My old front and side mounts were in pretty bad shape and I did not realize how different the car would feel with not only new mounts but with these beffier upgraded mounts. the old front mount had a pretty significant gash in it. The side mount looked like a grenade went off inside it. my install guy said the side was basically resting on the frame. I'd say that's a pretty poor situation for my motor. After he put the new mounts in his words were, "these aren't gone break".

I also had him install the XLR8 high flow cat. However, my dumb ass forgot to give him the new gakets. he said that the old gaskets came off fully intact and he put those on. How important is it to get the new gaskets on? How quickly should I get them on?

The car feels amazing with it on and I can definately feel the low end torque. it's a great addition to the exhaust and jpipe.

I also have to say that the throttle response with these two mods "seems" GREATLY IMPROVED!

If the old gaskets don't leak, then you're good to go!

But, there's a high probability that they will leak. Metal exhaust gaskets are supposed to deform slightly so that they can seal. Reusing them is not recommended.

It's not too bad unless you have the AC on.

I have the same exact ones and it's amazing how motor mounts can change the feel of the car so much. It is much more responsive and I can accelerate with confidence.

I could not agree more. Everything from sitting at a stop light, accelerating, changing from reverse to drive, car start up - it all feels better... More solid.

Are there any cons to the XLR8 motor mounts? Anybody that had them on for a good amount of time with any insights?

Yes they will. Order 75A bushings if you want the least engine movement.

Our XLR8 mounts have polyurethane bushings so there will be some more drivetrain vibraiton. However, there will be less engine movement and the mounts will last longer.

I wanted to mention the lack of wheelhop with this mod. Its incredible - almost non existent now. When I got them installed I stomped on the gas a few times from a dead stop. I roasted my 19" Continental DW's. They have about 80% treadlife left and I have never before been able to do this. No doubt the HFC helped as well.

check the front mount. look at the mounting tab that bolts to the motor. is it cracked/broken?

u might have to pull the mount off completely to check

Did you just install these? If so we re-check all the bolts holding the mounts and the mount brackets and make sure they are all making contact. It sounds like the engine is moving so you likely have a loose bolt somewhere.

I probably should've bought these, but didn't have the balls to. Maybe my buddy and I should replace my front AND side motor mounts tomorrow. Damn we have a lot to do....

I have the 75As in my 5AT. They've been in the car for almost 2 weeks and have softened a little. If the vibrations get too severe when I'm stopped (which is the only time you'll notice you have anything bad about them), I just pop it into to neutral.

The best solution would be to raise the idle 150-200 rpm. Maybe our aftermarket ECU could do that. That would cure most of the vibrations while stopped and in gear.
