What type of intake to run all year round?

I am currently in the market to purchase a cold air intake for my 04 TL. I live in NY which means snow and rain. Is there a big risk in running a regular cold air intake vs. a short ram air intake on my car? I am looking at AEM.

ive never been to NY so i can't speak for your weather conditions, but it takes a LOT of water to hydrolock. maybe run stock for winter time and AEM/Fujita/Injen during the summer. Fujita's filter sits lower than the other 2 just fyi.

i wouldnt get a short ram. from what ive read (again no personal experience) they just make noise without making any power

The filter would have to submerged to cause the horrors you have in mind.

Although short ram is easy access to clean.

You can modify the stock box if your worried about snow. I would spend money on exhaust if you have the funds as mentioned. But intake I run CAI all around texas weather and every now and then we get some flooding. Just dont do anything stupid and usually you can get out of your worries of hydrolocking. If your really worried I think Fujita or someone makes a short ram for the car.

you can also get a drycharger for your filter that repels water...

short ram is "safer", but heat soak is terrible. Go with Injen CAI. As long as u don't dip your car into a 2ft deep puddle u should be good, lol. I live in FL and i was running no front bumper for over 6 months with a CAI and it was fine.

Use intercooler piping and couplers to build your own. Then you can put it any height you want. It'll be a fraction of the cost of a aftermarket unit.

And a waste of money unless your looking for less power and just more noise.

We don't have the flooding issues here but heavy rains and I have run a regular AEM in deep snow and many snow storms .. no issues.

Aem v2 04 tl

I am looking at the AEM V2 for my cai. Is this a good choice for a cai? Does anyone know where to get one for a 04 TL? For some reason I am having one hell of a time finding one.

Aem v2 2004 tl

Everywhere I look the V2 for the 04 TL is listed as the same as the Accord 03-06. Is this true? If it is, should I be looking under the Accord version for a better deal online? If anyone is running the V2 please let me know how it performs. Thanks

I am in ny and i have aem cai. Its not that low so even in ny you should be fine unless ylu decide to dive into a deep pothole. I love the sound it makes, but i would rather get a jpipe if i had a second chance

They don't make the V2 for the 3G that is why you have to buy the 03-06 accord.

I really have no idea why someone would put a short ram on a car. I can understand 4x4 applications but it's just stupid on a car.

Short ram can be effective if you plumb it right with plenty of circulation. If you can move air out of the engine bay fast it can be just as effective but if your idling in traffic it will suck....moving on the other hand you should be fine.

I live in NYC and have had the AEM for a year now. We just had a crazy blizzard that I drove 300 miles through and rain has been a way of like all Fall and Winter (I'd swear it was Seattle). No issues what so ever. Be through some pretty deep puddles 6"+. Just be mindful and don't go splashing through them crazy. Take it easy.

You'll be fine. Just know where the deep puddles are and avoid them - and if unavoidable, keep in mind which side the filter is on and try for the opposite side.
