it doesnt matter what route you go. 300 dollars will get you a shiny pipe in the engine bay and a whole lot of noise. they're all the same.

Is there anything to be gained from removed some of the stock intake components? Removing the resonator will make it louder, but does removing that stuff help with the actual intake of the air, under hood temps or anything like that

I have, it's really good. If memory serves, he has an intake that is wrapped with heat shielding right? Why didn't he just keep the stock air box? When they figure out a way to take out the cowling without sacrificing the windshield sprayers, I'll be looking into doing that mod as well.

I guess you havent read the whole thread.....
Dremel squares (or circles, or whatever you choose) through the cowling. so heat rises through the cowling and through cuts you've made.

I suggest you take the time to go through this whole forum. Tear this shit up!!!

The TL is no Evo, but then again it's no Aveo. Honestly I don't really need any more power from the TL, it gets me around just fine. If I wanted a performance car, I wouldn't have gotten the TL.

OP I have a K&N intake and I like it, it gives the TL a throaty sound. The only downside is that it's freakin' loud. With the windows down you can hear it whistling like crazy. I guess it's good to know it's working.

I guess it depends what you want. Sound or performance. I went with the CAI first but wish I would have gone with the Jpipe performance wise, plus its cheap to "modify" our exhaust for "sound" purposes. Try searching Stage1, stage 2, stage 3, stage 4. Hope this helps, but this truly is a topic that has been beaten again and again.
