need help with ideas to increase performance legally.

Hey guys I want to put more hp into my 06 TL. My friend said I should start with a CAI some headers and an exhaust system to increase my hp and that way I can keep I legal if I get legal headers, but I also want to know other options. so if you guys could help that would be great.

You need to keep reading/searching. There are no "headers".

Yep, you can't install headers on our engines because there is no exhaust manifold in the usual sense.

Without going into the engine or installed a supercharger, your best bet is to install hi-flow cats, an opened up exhaust system, and a J-pipe. Add in a quality intake with perhaps a UDP (Under Drive Pulley) and that is about it (there are a couple other bolt-ons). Don't expect huge gains for the money spent, however. Of these mods, perhaps the best bang for the buck is a quality J-pipe.

Good luck. Other folks might have some more suggestions for you.

Not true. There are NUMEROUS exceptions based on locale.

For the most part it's no big deal, but sometimes people get hassled and/or fix it tickets for "stupid" stuff.

As you go from place-to-place there are all kinds of rules. Tint rules, noise rules, exhaust rule, lighting rules, emission rules, California CARB rules, etc.

Some of them are just dumb, imho, others I understand.

My car won't pass here if somebody looks close or gets picky. I have to sweat it out every year.
