well im not sure if u know or not....but we are in kind of a financial situation...they can charge upwards of 1000+ for the headers....they can charge 500-1000+ ... because no other company has headers on the market....they can price guage this one.....but if its around 500 u can definatly count me in....but a price range would be nice....even if its off by a few hundred...still a ball park or general idea im sure would give everyone peace of mind and possibly even get better responses so if people are making big purchases in the future they can set money aside

I will say this the high flow cats are top notch and expensive they are ment for 0b2 cars like ours. he trying to get better pricing on them. i can tell you they will not be more than $1050.00 but not less than $800.00 AND REMEMBER no check engine with huge gains and cats. You will still pass emssions im sure. my car still runs clean as hell with them. Comptech charges $1,250 for them and people bought them and still buy them. We are getting them for less im sure. and making the same gains If we get alot of people on a group buy then maybe we can do better.

who makes the cats. remember for you CA people, it probably wont pass visual even if no CEL comes on...CARB only okay's a certain amount of OBD2 compliant cats a year...last time i checked none were ok'd for our TL's. in any event, this sounds like a really good setup and probably worth the effort to swap out for our smog tests.

nitro, can you show me a full pic of your avatar. Looks nice from I can see.

Can you also ask him how long it would take to make the headers for 20 people. I know its time consuming to port them. Are we talking about months or weeks? just a guesstimate.

Will the people doing the smog test even know they are after market cats? As long as the numbers pass won't it be ok?

i'm pretty sure you will be able to get away with it. most of the techs will just look to see if there have been any extensive modification. if the numbers are good then most likely they wont take the visual as seriously. there is still a chance they might ask for the papers showing why the cats were replaced, but ive come across that maybe once or twice.

i am really interested in getting a set of headers. what i am concerned about is someone from california dumping a bunch of money into a set of headers without understanding that there is a possibility that the car will not pass smog unless the stock cats/downpipe are reinstalled.

its also good that these are coming from out of state because any shop in CA that does illegal smog modifications can get nailed pretty hard by CARB...i used to work at a shop and the state didnt fuck around when it came to installing the appropriate cats on cars.

no they werent. they had resonance and fitment issues just like the obx's and the person who brought them to us ran away and screwed over a member or two.

if it comes down to it, as long as I kept the original cats and downpipe, I'll reinstall for the testing then switch back out. Pain in the ass yes but we smog test 1 a year at most once your car reaches a certain age right?

Nitro, I PMed you but I received no response. Do you need help organizing this GB and making it happen on Acurazine? I can do that for you if you need help.

Oh, and price pending, I'm in since I'll pass inspection. Curious...stage 2 is still theorhetical, but is it anticipated to pass emissions as well?
Anybody?

I believe smog in CA is every 2 years once your car hits its 5th birthday.

As for the above post...again it depends on the state laws regarding removal and installation of cats not certified to be on that car. I think CA and maybe NJ are the states that might be the most difficult. Anyway, The install should be about as hard as you make it. It definately helps if you are familiar with working on your car, have access to a lift (makes it so much easier) and have the tools. I would think it would just take a long afternoon if you are installing them for the first time..I am still curious as to now the design is going to be, where the flanges are, etc, so I cant be for sure on anything.

Cant wait to see the pictures.

Ok guy's and ladies our inspection is good for 4 years so why are you worried i have an 04 and im not do till 08. And they will pass you cant even see them on the car unless you really look. And i am sure it will pass with no problem. Not to mention you could alway's switch it back if you had a problem. Or just pay the the bucks to get through. But im am sure passing is not a problem. As for everyone living in jersey you can have it installed and dynoyed at the shop they have the in house dyno so you can see your before and after

Couple questions:

1) What's the new engine note? Is there any resonance at any rpms?

2) Any increased vibrations at idle, or throughout the rpm band?

3) Is the install as simple as the install was for the '02 TL CT headers? Or is it more involved? How technically advanced is the install (i.e., can any mechanic do it, or are certain skillz required)

4) engine heating ... will these headers need to be insulated?

Nope the cats have heat sheild on them so no need for anything extra. No change in sound maybe a little growl but nothing crazy but i have the comptech exhaust sounds the same to me. And there is no resonance at any rpm just alot smoother through the power band. the install i guess if your handy is easy but the back cat is TIGHT so it will take you a minute to get to. i would suggest two people is a must but not nessary.

ok ,,, count me in minus the cats.

i want a version that has no cats, so thats like minus 750 bucks right? >=]

im gonna nut my pants when i see them..

just to let you know. i want to be on the list, but i need to see pics before wednesday. (leaving to go overseas for a 120 days) but will pay for them now if needed.

thanx.. i might just finish up the ones that i was making and sell them at half prices since its only the downpipe replacing the cats. and a striaght thru pipe replacing the 3rd cat.

carl.

I think everyone is.

by the way... whats the final name on these headers? I saw you had E Shift Proto's on your sig. Just want a confirmation.

Maybe you should do a count now.. it seems like we are way over 20 and doesnt that mean a better price?
