Ok do you want the dyno numbers for the 6-speed base or the Auto. As far as exhaust the TL comes with 2.25 inch stock, the upgrade is to buy a aftermarket cat-back which is 2.5 to 3 inch if you co custom.

2.5 inch will give a nice jump in power, 3 inch might be too big and cause a loss of back pressure and low end torque.

The base TL in auto makes 200-205 HP and 190-195 TQ at the wheels. I have not seen a stock auto dyno sheet for awhile, but I think those are the numbers. An exhaust will give you up to 30 HP if you get all the parts to fully open it up.(j-pipe,high flow cats)

With AEM Cold air intake and Magnaflow exhaust Stage 3, I had 221HP and 197TQ. 05 TL A/T.

Waiting for XLR8 Non Res exhaust and will do another dyno.

For a non supercharged or turbocharged TL use 2.5" piping. You don't have to worry about too little back pressure with the stock pre-cats installed.

Don't weld the muffers in, have a slip fit and you can swap them out to get the best sound.

I tried that once on the turbo car. It went from a deep rumble to sounding like a Honda 4 banger with a raspy exhaust.

What are you running right now?

I have to tell you, I havent done any exhaust work to my car, because other than the eshift procats or the Jpipe, I look at peoples posted dyno numbers and they arent really that much more for spending over $1000 in exhaust work. Just the AEM V1 CAI wrapped with a reflective sleeve, and UR underdrive pulley, my 04 auto TL put 227 horsepower to the wheels, that was on an 86 degree day with 50% humidity. My car runs strong and sounds good even with the stock exhaust. I might do a catback system with some borla mufflers, maybe the P2R spacer, and thats about it for the upggrades to mine. I'll do the sway bars as well. I'm open to suggestions for mufflers. I'm not going to remove anything from the exhaust though.

My Magnaflows will be for sale when the XLR8 gets put on.

there's no raspy sound here at all...2.5" piping, 2 resonators + stock pre+muffler, stock Y split into straight through pipes to the tails.. <<<<this is for my normal driving, ditching attention. there's plenty of sound and its clean.....
and theennnnnnnnn for my real driving...this is what comes into play...yeah i think its time to reveal it lol

Those things are cool. A friend of mine at the local speed shop where I get my performance stuff done has them on his hemi charger. That thing sounds ridiculas when he opens them up.

Agree, I have vids of the sound but they don't justify hearing it in person..the closest engine sound u get from the 3.2...this is my perfect setup, since I'm SCed and I need the most free flow I can get, while still maintaining a low profile for normal city driving..and its just at the tip of my right thumb while I'm shifting

Its fun noticing ppls reactions, as I approach a redlight decceling on 1st gear, while it rumbles
And then it suddenly gets quiet lol

I also had dyno runs on this thing and it made 27 WHP! At redline..gains from midrange all the way up

Wow!!! That's amazing! I remember Al (stillhere) was going to do this mod to his TL-S, but did not go through. I was wondering how this would work on a non-boosted TL.

I love the cutouts. I had one back in the old days. It was always fun to have someone challenge me and all of a sudden my nearly silent car was shaking their car and had an evil whistle in the background.

^^^^^^^lol, now you know why I never support any catback systems ever! But that's just my own personal taste directed towards more gains for much less $$$, difference, uniqueness, custom.

you might want to throw turndown tip on the cutout outlet so you don't have the undercarriage lookin like a chimney...

here's a good one

This might be a dumb question but i just want to be sure. This would be the same for the 6 speed as well? If so this is the 2004 we are talking about correct? If not, what is the base WHP for the 04 6Spd? Thanks alot! I personally think it would be the same because we are measuring HP and not 1/4 mile or 0-60 times. Your input is appreciated, i just want to see what i started out with to the wheels...

A base 6MT puts down around 230 whp. The manuals do not lose hp as much as the AT; on the dyno or street.

Read em and weep. Before and after my first set of mods on a dynojet. And I believe it was during the fall, so it was only in the 60's.
