Supercharger Vibration

Hey all,

Lately my s/c has been vibrating a bit excessively at around 2100-2300 rpms. Besides that, it doesn't seem like anything else is wrong, but it's quite annoying because the entire car vibrates whenever I am between those rpms. Has anyone else experienced this with the s/c? Should I be worried about the internals being damaged on the unit itself? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Brian

ok, so I noticed a little vibration around those RPMs also. After changing the drive belt, I noticed the vibration noise was gone, might want to try adjusting the belt making sure it is properly aligned on all the pulleys.

I just checked everything, seems to be ok. I tried to allign the belt better, but the vibration is still there. It isn't as noticeable when the car is still cold, but once it warms up, the driveability is just unbearable. I checked to make sure the charger is bolted up properly, tightened the bolts down, etc. I'm not sure what else it can be, maybe something internally?

I would think that it would be an internal balancer or something of the nature inside the blower that has broken or gone bad. Try calling comptech as they have reopened their doors.

Hmm, no one is picking up the phone @ Comptech, says that they open their new shop on the 18th. I'm just wondering if it's even safe to drive, seems to be getting worse everytime I do.

It's alright, what can you do, I'll just have to wait for them to take a look. This has been happening since I got the s/c, just before it wasn't as noticeable, so I thought that it was normal. It just progressively got worse over the course of the year, and now I just can't bear it.

new thought, check the stock belt tensioner on the car. If it has gone bad, it could cause belt slippage or to tight belt or something leading to a vibration.

Hello:

Give Shad at Driving Ambitions a call. He is in Sac, phone 916 861-0032.

He worked at Comptech and did much of the development on the SC. He knows his stuff and a good guy.

Is it a harmonic or a constant vibration at those RPM's?

Inside the car, it almost feels like it's harmonic, but checking under the hood, the s/c has a constant vibration.

No luck w/ Comptech, and I couldn't get a hold of Shad yet either
