Supercharged @ 173k
Recently I bought a Comptech SC from a member here on A-zine. Even though I said no more mods for the old TL . A buddy of mine and I installed it yesterday. The install took about 9hrs. To anyone that is going to do this themselves, I would just say take your time and make sure you have the CT directions in the kit. Sorry I didn't take any progress pictures but we just wanted to get done.
The only other things I can say if you're doing it yourself is; If you're buying a used kit, make sure you check the parts list on the CT site and have the seller varify that ALL parts are in the kit. Also make sure you have the propper tools. There are a couple of spots where there is very limited space (power steering fitting 10mm and EGR 12mm ). When bolting these on I had to use a shorty open end wrench. To access the FPR (located in the gas tank), there is an access area under the carpet in the tunk. There's a special tool to take out the housing but we made due by tapping around the threaded portion with a hammer and flat head screwdriver. Once that was out you'll need the FPR crush tool which should be in your SC kit. I can't think of any other special tools. Just a pretty time consuming job.
After driving the car today for a few minutes I got a CEL. We scanned it and it says misfires cylinders 1 and 5, number five being under the blower snout. Oh yeah, don't plan on changing your plugs or battery without taking off the SC. Anyway the car goes pretty good Hopefully it will go a little better after I replace the bad coil packs. Future plans are water meth, custom cai, and hopefully J&R ECU. We'll see how long the transmission lasts
I'll post some vids when I can get some time, but here's a picture of the finished install.

also, when you get the custom cai, think about doing a battery relocation to the trunk.
that's what i had done with my TL so that i could keep my larger optima battery and have easier access
and
i don't know how strict connecticut's emission laws are but email comptech aka ct engineering
with pictures of the supercharger and serial number to get the sticker that says it legal in all 50 states

Thank you. I'd definitely say it was worth doing it, although I did have access to a lift and any tool I needed, and the help of my buddy. Unfortunately what I can't do myself is figure out why I have misfire codes on 1 and 5. Did a few common sense things to try to figure it out but no luck yet.
I get up to Waterbury a lot for work but with a different vehicle. When you're down this way let me know. And for the love of A-zine GET MODDING Lol!

Looks good! How much weight does this add to the front end, like 60lbs? I think that relocating the battery to the trunk is a good idea to stay at least close to factory weight distribution. I think the OEM battery is ~38 lbs. Since you're 5AT, you could also remove the ballast behind the front bumper.

Unfortunately it's not 100% running right. As I said in some earlier posts, it's got random misfire codes. So far I swapped coil packs and injectors around but it's still showing up cylinders 1 and 5. Next step is to pull the blower and do several things; Compression Test (I know, should have been done already), Valve Adjustment, Replace Three Coil Packs. I'm still leaning towards coil pack because I can feel it stumble at various RPM ranges and it feels like when a plug wire goes bad in a car. What I mean by that is, when a plug wire goes bad (depending on how bad the wire is) you go up a hill in a higher gear, you can usually get the motor to buck a little. So still a few things to try to resolve the problem.
Anyway to answer your question after all that^ nonsense. There are times when it does run strong and I'd have to guess it's making 290 mmabyee 300 to the wheels When I get it all set, I'll eventually make it to a Dyno.

Yeah, I wish could get the damn thing to run right so I could take it to a dyno. Haven't had time to work on it but there are two more things that are left to try and resolve the misfires. After that, I give up.
