The '05 TL was advertised as having 270 HP yet now the Acura website says that the '06 has 258 hp. The engine is the same. My dealer just said that they have only changed the way they measure HP. What is the real deal?

The 05's are 270HP where the 06 which is basically the same car with no changes was rated at 258 hp because the system they used to rate HP on the 06' was different then when they rated the 05. The cars are basically the same with no changes but the HP rating system was changed for this year on a few cars.

Yes the rating system that all cars have to comly to starts for 2006 cars and all makes and models have 3 years to comply. Acura is the 1st to change and be up front with the new measurments. Basically measuring HP from 2005 and earlier they can measure the running motor with no components. NOW the measurments have to be as the user uses the car. with components on , A/C , Heat , and so on. nothing has changed the HP and performance of the TL is the same , the way they measure the HP is different. chalk one up fo Acura for being up front and compliant 1st.

they actually lie the TL is truly 154 hp measured by the flux capacitor standard.

That is great Acura is the first one to show up on this as being "We have Nothing To Hide" so now I am curious what the real hp#'s will be for other cars such as the BMW 330i/G35/IS350 our competitors.

where did you see the rsx-s has 300 hp? i looked all over the acura site and couldnt find mention of any of the 06's having 300 hp.
